An Unforgettable Day Out at Diggerland Durham! I cannot recommend Diggerland Durham highly enough – what an absolutely amazing day we had! I took my 8-year-old son for a surprise visit, and it completely exceeded all expectations. From start to finish, the experience was packed with fun, excitement, and pure joy.
He got the chance to drive seven different types of real diggers – yes, actual JCBs – and the smile on his face said it all. He couldn’t believe he was allowed to operate real construction machinery, and he took to it like a natural! Whether it was digging, scooping, spinning, or steering, he loved every single minute.
One of the major highlights of the day was the Skyshuttle lift – soaring high above the park in a cherry picker with breathtaking views all around. It gave us a moment to catch our breath (and take some incredible photos) before diving back into more adventures.
But the absolute standout moment – and what I think he’ll remember forever – was when he got to drive a real off-road car. He did it 9 times because he just couldn’t get enough! The thrill of being behind the wheel of an actual car, driving over bumps and turns, was something he’s still talking about non-stop. For an 8-year-old, it was a dream come true.
The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everyone had a great time. The park was clean, well-organized, and had plenty of areas for picnics and breaks between the action.
This wasn’t just a day out – it was a full-on adventure, and one that created memories we’ll both cherish for a long time. If you have kids (especially those obsessed with diggers, trucks, and vehicles), Diggerland is an absolute must. We’re already planning our next visit!

Read moreGreat place which entertained my boys (aged 7 and 9) all day.
On arrival we were sceptical as the park didn't look very big. However, before we even got out of the car park a digger ride driver was honking his horn at my boys and was giving them big smiles and waves which was a fantastic start to the day.
Absolutely amazing customer service throughout the day. The young staff supervising the rides were cheery, polite and very friendly. All were very chatty and were able to reassure my boys when they were feeling a little nervous about the equipment. However, the food hut staff really let the place down. I ended up having an argument with a member of staff who had missed off a meal I'd ordered and payed for(x5 in total). She accused me of already taking it to our table until someone admitted that they'd not prepared it. The member of staff went on to sort said meal but did not apologise for her rude and disgusting behaviour. I would highly recommend taking your own picnic and using the benches provided outside.
My boys throughly enjoyed themselves but especially liked the go karts, hubby also enjoyed getting in on the action. Our little girl (18 months) enjoyed exploring the little indoor slide. We would advise to go on 'Spindizzy' at your own peril, fab ride but thank goodness we left it until last due to the induced feeling of nausea.
Great day had by all and amazing customer service! I would also like to compliment whoever has the green fingers because the flowers around the park were lovely and colourful and brightened up our overcast and...
Read moreOverall the place is great for kids! And some bigger kids too! Do feel the price for adults was expensive! Especially if you don’t go on anything, feel there should be an option for this. Our child was overwhelmed and didn’t want to go on anything other than the little rides which were annoyingly the ones that you pay for. I think these rides should be free especially after paying the high fee to already get in. I agree with someone else in the comment section too that it was a bit ridiculous not to even have somewhere to get change at the facility, I also felt annoyed that one of the £1 sit on quads (blue one) wasn’t working properly, and my child was left feeling disappointed as did a couple of other kids we seen use it. (My fault I didn’t mention it to a member of staff) Also I found a women staff member to be a bit difficult at one of the rides (far end one where your lifted up high and driven round) she measured our child saying she was under a meter yet every other ride she measured over! If she was under we wouldn’t have paid the full price for her! Then when a couple of us adults decided to go on. We waited patiently at the gate while this same women spoke to a couple of kids for about 10 minutes. (They were the only two on ride) then ignored the fact we were standing there then proceeded to get on her digger. So we gave up and walked away feeling frustrated. All other staff we spoke with were lovely and freindly. The guy doing safari trip across from it was...
