I’m not sure how to score this review as I love coffee. We dropped in at cafe Montalbano, an Italian cafe in Langley Park, for a good coffee after breakfast. The lad who took the order was a bit withdrawn. The friendly lass made me a cappuccino. The milkfoam was to airy & thick, so no latte art here. Nonetheless the cappuccino was hot and alright: I would score it 6,5-7 out of 10. After this I had a double espresso. I’m sorry to say that the Bristot coffee they use just didn’t hit it for me. I’ve never had it before but I think it had a slightly stale taste. The same reason why I’m not a fan of Segafredo coffee. As we just had breakfast at our holiday cottage we didn’t have anything to eat. And that was a shame as the cakes, biscuits and food really looked superb & tasty. I suspect if I had something to eat at Montalbano’s I would have scored them 4 stars. But we didn’t so it’s 3 stars for...

The drinks are good, but I thought I would give their lemon cheesecake a try, but unfortunately, there was no lemon flavour at all. For what it cost I would have been fine if it had a lemon flavour but to also have a texture that was either caused by gelatin or cream that had been whipped too much, it really was a huge let down because it was almost £4 a slice which shocked me even more with the fact that it was just bland and claggy in texture. The scones are ok if a little dry and not too good in general, but I wouldn't come back for any cakes to go with a tea from here. Real shame to have this as my first experience with them, and I don't see myself...

How did authentic Italian food end up in Langley Park of all places?? I don't know but I'm so glad it did. Everything is delicious, reasonably priced and they do great coffee. My husband and I lived in Rome for a while and their cannoli is on par! The various cakes on offer are all amazing as well - shout out to the Red Velvet cheesecake especially - and the service is always friendly and welcoming. They are dog friendly too and always get a bowl of water for Cooper (who embarrassingly never drinks any but it's still much appreciated). If this place ever closes I'm selling up and moving...
