AMINS SPICE LTD — Restaurant in England

Be carefull about the bill! We have been going to Amin's Spice off and on for four years, and have always found the food very good. We had noticed that the prices were rising lately, but that did not prepare us for what happened when we went there there last Friday night and ordered as usual from the menu. The food was fine, but when the bill arrived we noticed that the prices totted up were considerably higher than the prices shown on the menu. For example a main meal shown on the menu at £8.50 was charged at £10 and a vegetarian meal shown at £7.50 was charged at over £9. Boiled rice was £4.95! In all, we were expecting a bill of £24-25, but were billed over £30. When we challenged this they said the menus were "backed up", and their prices were increased because their costs had risen. This may be true, but they could have put a sticker on the menus saying the prices had increased, or they could have given a verbal warning when the menus were presented to table, but they did neither. We only learned the new prices when we were presented with the bill. When I went to school such practises were known as fraud, and I am still deciding whether to involve Trading Standards, but we certainly won't be...

Only order from here because the takeaway in Sacriston has awful korma sauce now. Pre Ordered online onion bhaji, bombay aloo, plain chicken curry, chicken korma, mushroom pilau and peas pilau for 18.35 through the Food Hub on Friday 28th July.

The doorbell rang and from the moment I opened the door I was threatened by the driver why hadn't I answered my mobile phone I have rang six times. I replied because my phone never rang and I proved that. He still insisted on getting his phone to check he had the right contact number which he did and only then did he have to back down. It made me feel very uncomfortable to be threatened like this.

The currys and bombay aloo tasted OK. My mushroom pilau had a black hair in it. Peas pilau and mushroom pilau tasted ok. The onion bhaji was extremely greasy and the yellow sauce that accompanied it tasted of nothing.

I complained through the Food Hub site but am still waiting for a reply so sent a message on Messenger and again no reply.

Absolutely terrible! Ordered tonight for convenience before nightshift after not going for long time due to food been disgusting and staffs attitudes! Naan Bread missing from my order to which I rang to be told I hadn’t ordered it nor paid for it. I said everytime we go there is an issue (which there is) hence us not going for a long time and was just cause it was convenient tonight!
