Fantastic Beach. It is very clean on and around the beach, even on a chilly day. In the warmer months you can hire a deck chair or sun loungers. Plenty of good places to buy ice cream near the beach or if you are feeling lucky there are two amusement arcades close by . Deck Amusements is just arcade machines like the old 2p money drop machines ( it is like playing the game show Tipping point, but without Ben Shepherd being there). Also fruit machines and arcade machines. The other one Dymchurch Amusements has the same arcade machines as the other one but all so fair ground rides The place is more designed for little kids , but adults can enjoy the classic Bumper cars and the scary Ghost train. One word of warning, it is not open all the time even though Goggle says it is. It is mainly open for school holidays and weekends. So check before you travel. You have to buy discs to go on the ride, which cost £1.20 for one disc up to £20 for 26 discs. The Beach is great. The food you can get is great ( check out the Village Cafe in the High street) Great Ice cream from multiple places and lots of fun to be had. Go visit and have a great...
Read moreI first went to dymchurch when I was about 9/10 years of age and continued to go into my adulthood. During that time it was 'magical'. With the atmosphere of what I imagine it would have '1930's'. beautiful cottages all centered around a village centre with 'Old World' candy shops with jars, fish & chip shops, a miniature train that ran through it with the advantage of a wonderful beach on your doorstep and a wild conservation park up in the hills.
Today a few of the above still remain, but the atmosphere has changed so much, with the arrival of mini supermarkets, kebab shops etc and the closure of all the privately owned shops, that were unique to the village and were a delight to go into.
It seems the only thing left is the family owned funfair and all the shops they have bought and added to that .ie turned into a street full of amusement arcades.
On my most recent visit after many years living abroad I was also shocked and disheartened how Hythe village has become a victim of all the above. All the private shops gone to be replaced by shops of insignificance etc....
Read moreI highly recommend this beach. Pleasant and sandy. The initial intention was to go to Camber Sands Beach, but when we got there, we found it incredibly crowded, and the road leading there was gridlocked with traffic because there was nowhere to park. While there, I did a Google search, and Dymchurch Beach was one of the results. We decided to come, and I can honestly say that this is a decision about which I have no regrets. beach with pretty excellent, soft sand. Since there was no charge for using the parking lot after 6:00 p.m., we arrived late and had to pay for one hour of parking. In the immediate area, you'll find stores selling anything from fish & chips to ice cream and doughnuts. In addition, there is a theme park very close by. Bear in mind that the restrooms are in the worst state that you can possibly imagine; the situation is very bad. There is a restroom that requires payment someplace, but I did not have time to check it out. In general, though, this is a wonderful beach, and I plan to spend my summer vacations here...
