What an amazing place to visit. A living 17th century village full of volunteers who are very keen to speak to you and answer all your questions. Spent a very interesting 30 minutes listening to how the surgeon used to take blood, remove musket balls and remove limbs. Well worth a visit. Mosquitos are dreadful so make sure to take some insect repellent. Entrance is quite difficult to find to the extent that the wrong road has a sign up to say it's not right. Google Maps hasn't been updated yet to include the new road name. Turn into *Barrington Close*.

Had an amazing time! When you arrive you are met with a meandering path to follow. Then you find the village buildings and are instantly transported to another time. The volunteers are amazing and they really bring the village to life. They all have a vast knowledge of their individual specialities, tools, objects and daily life. Their passion for explaining how life is during the 17th Century is enthralling. I would highly recommend visiting!

If you like going back in history then this is the place to be.The village is set in the 17th century, there are several buildings that you can visit including a pub, blacksmith, pottery, wood turning and weaving. Each building is occupied by very knowledgeable volunteers who will tell everything you need to know. What a place!!!!!!! Whatttttttt an experience!! We visited on the last open day of 2023. I couldn’t do justice to it as I had a demanding toddler in tow who got bored just after my 3 chats with the amazing villagers. The ladies at the café Rosie & Linda, were amazing sharing knowledge and information about the place. My only advice to first timers would be to familiarise with the map and the names of the villagers (placard at cafe) to have a more personalised experience with them. It’s nice to address them with their village names and always use Master and Mistress before their names 🥰 I could only experience chatting with the Ale Keeper Lady, Ellen the Peddler, Raymond the Scribe, Roger the Barber Surgeon, Anna the Braid Weaver, David and Andrew the Blacksmiths, Nellie the Seamstress and Christopher the Wood Turner. The young lads were really good too. I couldn’t put my finger on one villager and say they were the best; each one had genuine information of the 17th century to share. They are all so knowledgeable and are volunteers doing it probably for the sheer love of history. I can’t wait to go there again and this time...

A historical gem in the most unlikely of places. Having lived near here for 6 years now decided to visit yesterday. Firstly the price. £5 for an adult. There aren’t many other things that you can fill half a day for £5. I’d have happily paid twice that.

The village is fascinating to explore and the actors, all volunteers, really bring this place to life. The gentleman talking about weapons was fascinating, especially firing the musket, and the blacksmith was just amazing. A really talented guy.

If you haven’t been before then I’d strongly...
