These beautiful and tranquil gardens were only a couple of minutes walk from our coach drop-off point - and the railway station. It was a pleasure to walk around the large pond and watch the ducks, geese, and seabirds that gather here. Some of the geese had chicks with them. There are info boards with photos of all the different species, making it easy to identify what I saw, but I didn't spot any of the more colourful and exotic ducks I was expecting to see. There's a memorial near the entrance that commemorates the servicemen of Grange who lost their lives in the First World War. Some magnificent mature trees surrounding the pond, including a giant monkey puzzle tree. Paths are smooth and wheelchair friendly, and there is plenty of seating. Read moreWe visit Grange every year at least once and usually walk round the gardens as they are usually a nice place to be. Unfortunately, at the moment anyway, the pond looks like swamp probably due to engineering works nearby and the duck platform looks on the verge of collapse. The fountain was not operating either on our visit for some reason. I would recommend visiting the gardens in the evening if you want a bit of peace and quiet as the road noise is constant during the day. Still a a nice place to visit with an excellent promenade and soon to be re-opened...
Read moreA lovely place to visit and watch the beautiful water fowl . We had our packed lunch on a bench overlooking the lake. It was a dream. On the practical side, after failing to find a public lavatory, we were happy to find that their's was clean, accessible and only 40p, which was payable by card. Fabulous for us as we had no cash in our pockets. I'm looking for contact details to make a small donation towards replacing some birds that were stolen from them....
