I had the most disgusting and appalling experience at this restaurant. When my chicken dish arrived, I was horrified to find a massive hair embedded in it. As I pulled the hair out, the chicken was still hanging off it, and this happened right in front of a male waiter who clearly saw the entire incident.
Despite the undeniable evidence and the witness, the female staff member I spoke to was incredibly rude and refused to acknowledge the problem. She blatantly denied there was any hair, even though the male waiter witnessed the whole thing.
The lack of hygiene and the unprofessional attitude of the staff is beyond shocking. I cannot believe they would treat their customers with such disrespect and negligence. This place is a health hazard and should be avoided at all costs. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else where they actually care about cleanliness and customer service.
IN RESPONSE TO THE MESSAGE :
We are absolutely outraged by your insinuation that we came for a free meal. Such an accusation is not only baseless but also deeply insulting. Let us clarify: we paid the service charge in full and received a discount on just one burger. Your rude and unprofessional attitude is unacceptable, and it speaks volumes about your establishment's lack of respect for its customers.
How dare you suggest that we planted the hair in our food? This is an egregious and unfounded accusation. The waiter was present and witnessed the entire incident, which further invalidates your claim. It's astonishing that instead of addressing the issue with the seriousness it deserves, you chose to deflect and blame the customer.
Moreover, you mentioned that the burgers are not made in-house. Given this, how can you be so certain that the contamination didn't occur at your supplier's end? The fact that there was a hair hanging off the burger is undeniable and unacceptable under any circumstances. This incident raises serious concerns about your food handling and hygiene practices.
We paid the bill in full, which clearly demonstrates that this issue is not about money. It's about the principle and the shocking lack of accountability and customer service we experienced. Your response has only exacerbated the situation and reflects extremely poorly on your restaurant's commitment to quality and cleanliness.
We demand a sincere apology and a thorough review of your food safety protocols. Such negligence and disrespect for customers are unacceptable and need to be addressed...

Having read some previous reviews, this Restaurant evokes strong feelings and had I taken the less than positive reviews in to account would probably not have booked.
But from my perspective, we live in different times, my expectations are different now, so we gave it a go and given those expectations my verdict is acceptable if a little expensive.
Service could have been slicker, however could not have been more friendly, I don’t mind informal, but I can see why folk might find it an issue given the prices charged, again different expectations on my part.
The staff were there, showing willing, that surely counts for something these days, good for them!
The food was nice, I’m not a Gravlax connoisseur, I enjoyed it. The hake was well cooked, the accompanying sauce very tasty. For dessert I opted for the chocolate mousse, very nice.
Denise found her meal to be acceptable: Bruschetta (could have been less chilled), then haddock followed by crème Brulé tart.
Nibbles upon arrival were excellent, Chipolata sausages and black pudding bonbons with apple sauce for dipping, yes please!
If like us you enjoy wine throughout your meal, a pre-dinner cocktail, and a nice glass of dessert wine to round it all off, expect to pay a premium, as that’s where the money seems to go.
It’s not fine dining, but it’s fine enough, I believe that Grange needs somewhere nice to walk to in the evening and from our hotel, what a lovely walk.
As it’s marmite, you’ll need to visit to form an opinion, I’d visit again for sure, drink a little less, or not, what the...
Read moreThe Estuary is a very refined restaurant, situated in the heart of Grange Over Sands. It is a subtle and warm environment to dine in, with a modern and warm decor. The staff are very polite. The service is about normal time for a restaurant like this. All 7 of us ate there, some of the meals included lamb koftas and calamari for starters and then chicken breast with mushroom sauce, pak choi and mash, a lovely tomato, goats cheese and chicken pasta, fish & chips and a BLT sandwich for mains. All of them were perfect, the chicken was succulent, and the mash was perfect, and the mushroom sauce brought it all together. The pasta was seasoned just right, and all the ingredients went so well together. The BLT was served in lovely bread, with chips and a salad. This fish and chips were perfect, what you would expect from a good chippy. Most of us ordered off the 2 courses for £12.00 menu, which was great value for money considering the food was perfect. We finished off with a tiramisu, with their own spin on it with candied orange, amaretto biscuit, blueberries and strawberries. I think it is the best tiramisu I have ever had. One of the members of the party had their birthday, the restaurant took this into account and have a free dessert, which is pictured. Overall, it was a very stunning meal with nothing to fault. I would defiantly go back and would recommend it to everyone else.
