Moored on the banks of the River Thames (at Gravesend) is the LV21 Lightship. Now converted into an arts and performance space, it is open to the public to visit, with a small donation to help maintain the venue. The best views are from the pontoon bridge and pier when the ferry runs between Gravesend and Tilbury, which there is a small greenspace where the lightship is moored.

Light Vessel LV21 was built in 1963 and retired in 2008. For most of her working life she was employed off the Kent coast protecting passing shipping from the area's notorious sand banks. She is now used as a floating art space and performance facility.

Just seen the theatre performance of the Arctic explorer Tom Crean at this venue: perfect, couldn't be better. So atmospheric, and the staff are great!
