Brompton Fish Bar, have you changed hands?! I have never been disappointed with the food here until today 🙁 I ordered a large fish and chips and a spam fritter. The fish was smaller than their usual medium and the chips were full of tiny pieces and greasy overcooked batter bits! The fish was sitting in grease and the batter was very overdone so we opened it and just ate the fish. This was a bit dry and mainly flavourless sadly. It was not enough to share and definitely not worth £14.50! What’s happened Brompton? It has never been like this. Shame. The only pluses are that it was piping hot, the delivery driver was lovely, and you can now order through their web page and pay by card. I knew this place when it was Max's and it was awful - small portions, stale hard chips and overpriced - but not now! Brompton Fish Bar and Kebab has come on a lot! Portion sizes where very reasonable, I had doner meat and chips about 4pm one afternoon and frankly you're sort of expecting to get chips that are lunch time leftovers, hard, dry and stale but these chips were OK, quite moist in fact. The doner meat was warm and fresh and cut nice and thick, Max's was always thin, dry and stringy! The only criticism is that I asked for burger sauce which they put over the chips, I would have much preferred for it over the meat but a lot of shops seem to be doing it this way now. Absolutely amazing Fish and Chips!!! Very competitive prices as you'd expect but portion size for the money brilliant. Struggled to finish it all which I'd rather than still be hungry after, like some chip shops... This Fish and chip shop is the best we've found in Kent so far.... Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area and hungry!! Spent £48 to feed 6 of us. That was 3 Cod and chips, 2 fishcakes with chips, battered sausage and chips, 2 savaloys, a curry roll, 2 bread rolls, mushy peas, curry sauce and a gerkin.... And they even gave us a FREE...
