A Must-Do Experience at Windermere Lake – Thanks to Ahmed!

We had heard about Ambleside (Waterhead Pier) and Windermere Lake Cruises from colleagues who highly recommended we take the trip and specifically suggested we meet Ahmed, the tour guide—and we’re so glad we did!

From the moment we arrived, Ahmed welcomed us with the warmest smile and an incredibly cheerful, enthusiastic attitude. His passion for the area and his genuine interest in making our experience unforgettable were clear right away. He shared countless tips and tricks to make the most of our boat trip, and his local knowledge was invaluable.

What truly stood out was how accommodating and thoughtful Ahmed was throughout the experience. He made sure every second of our trip was filled with joy, relaxation, and beautiful sights. After the cruise, he even gave us fantastic recommendations for other places to visit around the Lake District, which turned out to be absolute gems we would have otherwise missed.

Thanks to Ahmed, our Windermere Lake Cruise wasn’t just a scenic boat ride—it became a highlight of our entire trip. His enthusiasm, kindness, and expertise turned a great day into an unforgettable one. If you're planning to visit, definitely ask for Ahmed—you...

Had the most wonderful day yesterday thank you! My dog previously refused to get on a boat (the small wooden one) so I didn't try again - until yesterday!

I saw your video a few days ago re puppy guide dog training and saw the boat with the flat gang plank and we decided this looked great.

I live only 40 mins away so it's been a shame not being able to travel on the boats or leave the dog home.

Rebecca from the Ambleside cafe started chatting to me while I was sat outside the ticket office with an ice cream. I explained I was trying to desensitise my anxious dog to the pier area.

She said I definitely need to speak to the lovely Andy in the Ticket office!

I went over and asked - he chatted about the different boats and recommended The Swift to Bowness For the boat and also the park, cafes, shops, incredible views

We went on the boat and what a wonderful experience, the men who let you on and off were so very kind.

We had 40 mins of heaven and so relaxing.

Arrived in Bowness and it was everything Andy said it would be!

We had the best time and came back in the boat a few hrs later.

We will be going back again next...

I LOVED IT🤍

I love exploring new things, adventures, and nature. The trip to Waterhead Pier was all of the above. The rowing experience was so good, the water in the lake was super clear and clean. The view from the middle of the lake was something else - SO stunning.

I was there with my husband and mother in the boat, and the only thing I thought was off for me was that the instructor who guided us in the boat had my husband in the middle as the main rowing person, and even after I insisted to be seated behind him as the 2nd rower, he didn't let me and just kept advising i sit in the back of the boat with my mother. What happened because of this was that when we were in the deepest part of the lake, with big waves, the water was coming in the boat where me and mum were seated, as the weight was not evenly distributed. And whenever my husbands weight shifted to a side even slightly. The whole boat vigorously titled that way.

But all in all, no regrets. It was a lively experiment and I'm a hundred percent willing to go back for another...

The service was running on time, and the boats are well kept and tidy (the larger boats used are very spacious inside, which my dog appreciated on his first ever cruise). It goes without saying, the views are brilliant, and I was pleasantly surprised by the price of the drinks and snacks onboard. £5 for a pint and £1 for Scampi Fries on a boat in a very high tourist area, with the operating costs these boats will have, is really not bad at all! We had an issue with our tickets being printed, but the staff across the service were understanding and helped us where they could.
