Had a fantastic couple of hours at Bates Farm to do our annual pumpkin picking last Saturday. Great value for money as its only £12 per car to park and gain entrance to the farm and have a wonder around and meet the animals. They have a huge field with lots of different pumpkins, all shapes, sizes and colours....which my kids loved to the point our wheel barrow was too full so we had to try and decide which to keep at the end. Pumpkin prices reflect other pumpkin patches I have visited over the years but felt there was lots more variety and choice at bates farm. The farm isn't huge but I found it very family orientated, with face painting for the kids and lots of cute places to take photos whilst we enjoyed cookies and coffee from the coffee van which was also reasonably priced. Also it was really nice for one of the owners to take time out to have a chat with us and gave us some tips on how to grow our own pumpkins next year on our allotment. So thank you. Overall a great day, weather was perfect and the farm was spot on. See you at the beginning of April for the lambing season. Can't wait...

Had the best time at Bates Farm lamb tour this morning at 10am. We took a look at the tractors first and my daughter got to sit on one. We had a little talk with Farmer Fiona first and then we were taken in a smaller group with Erin where we saw the maternity lambing shed and the nursery. We were able to hold lambs in both of these which was amazing, my 4 year old loved it. We also met the cows too and waved at the 3 pigs. The tour was very informative and lots of fun. Afterwards we went to the Vet school where we had a quiz led by Ali, and my daughter had a go a rearing a pretend sheep. She then had her face painted at the back of this barn a little lamb on her cheek. We were then told by a lovely gentlemen at the farm that a lamb had just been born so we headed back to barn to take a look, arriving to see the Ewe cleaning her lamb which was lovely. There were options to have hot drinks & sweet treats which looked delicious by the Fursty Fox. The best time had by all, thanks so much Bates Farm. We’ll see you in October for pumpkin...

My children and I absolutely love coming to Bates Farm. We have been pumpkin picking a few years now, have bought Turkey’s for Christmas and also thoroughly enjoy the spring event when the lambs are born. Farmers Ali and Fi are absolutely gorgeous, hardworking, genuinely lovely people who put their all into creating an authentic family day out and take great pleasure in talking about what life on a working farm is really like. My children love hearing about what they get up to and visiting the animals and learning about the different machinery and farming methods etc. Disappointed to see some recent negative reviews of the farm. The price of £12 per car for pumpkin picking is beyond reasonable when you compare to some other farms in the region who charge in excess of £50+ for one adult and 2 children!! Keep up the hard work girls and well done. Your dad would be exceptionally proud of all of your achievements. See you at...

Amazing experience,as always, at Bates Farm today. The tour was fantastic and we even got to see some lambs being born which was a great bonus. We saw the pregnant ewes, the maternity area where we got to hold some recently born lambs which were very friendly and cuddly. We then got to visit the nursery area where the lambs are all running around followed by vet school with a quiz! They have a Bates Farm merchandise stand too which is great value. There is also a van serving drinks and snacks, we didn't purchase anything ouraelves but what we saw looked lovely. The whole experience is amazing from start to finish. The staff are so welcoming and care about each and every animal on the farm and are very knowledgeable. If you dont get chance to go this year, make sure you keep an eye out for next year as you will not be disappointed! Well done team! 🌟
