A valued and highly informative visit through Bridgend's WW2 history. Often mistaken sadly as "just" as a German POW camp (albeit historically speaking that's of interest in itself) there is much more to Hut 9 and the Bridgend area as an important part of our history. The massive ammunition factory where the South Wales Police Headquarters are situated currently and the original purpose of the Bridgend Industrial Estate are both equally key expects of our history that should also be shared.

Read moreVisits are only available at limited times of the year, it's run by volunteers so you need to get your booking in quick. The visits are well run, providing lots of useful background information for all ages and then tells the story of the escape of the German PoWs. The hut itself has rooms depicting various stages in the camp's life and re-enactors will happily talk to you about the artefacts etc. If you're lucky you might even spot Captain Mainwaring! Brett's talk was very informative regarding the part Hut 9 and the wider Bridgend area played during world war two.
