I've grown up around here and call Newbridge Fields 'my back garden'. It was donated by the Nichols family of Bridgend near the end of the 19th Century. It's home to Bridgend Cricket and Athletics. It has a childrens park near to the rec. The Ogmore river runs through the fields and provided great fun during my childhood, when it would often burst its banks. The fields are enjoyed by all generations, particularly in the summer. Children are often seen riding their bikes, teenagers play football and everyone walks their dogs. Behind the L.C was a rugby pitch with a river running along side. The was a soft playground for children and plenty of greenery for the kids to play.
