Read moreNot far away from the Costello/Peter Pan Park, 2 large open air spaces both used extensively. But Pickering Park now has a new attraction, the refurbished aviary has new additions, meerkats. I have never seen such animals before except on the tv but the sight of these creatures just sat on their hind legs is something different. The rest of the park has the usual children's play area and fields for sports, and at one time a paddling area, I'm not sure if this is still in use. Toilets are available, but the difference with this park is that it is not enclosed by a fence, ornate gates at one end but bordering Pickering Road is all open. Read moreNice Park and great for the young ones. Plenty to play on for all ages. Looks a bit scruffy near the containers at the South side of the lake, tempory barriers also not helping. Too many geese as well especially in late spring. Impossible to walk anywhere without getting goose poop all over your shoes. Welcome upgrades to the paths this year so its now possible to walk round the lake in winter. Wardens etc do a good job in keeping the park tidy, a position I believe is voluntary so thank you to you all.
