Lovely location for a short gentle walk or a longer walk for the more energetic. We walked from the Visitor Centre at Hayfield to Birch Vale, which took about 25 mins. It's a very level path and suitable for wheelchairs, mobility cycles and bicycles. We stopped at one of the many benches along the route to have our packed lunch. Lovely views along the route.

A pleasant, easy walk along a former railway line. Always enjoyable in any season, but now that Spring is bursting forth, some colour is coming back to enhance it. Check out the Bluebell Wood, just off the track a few hundred yards out of Hayfield. Not quite in full bloom yet, but by early May they could be at their best.

From the Torrs straight under the bridge following the old train track. Just under two miles to Birch Vale , where you cross the road but before you do that, try the excellent cafe. Then it's a mile to Hayfield with fantastic views over the lake of Lantern pike.

It's a nice little walk from Hayfield to Newmills, you get a view of the overflow reservoir and that's about it. The course deviates a couple of times to cross a road etc at which there is a cafe' and nearing the end you can divert to the Torrs. A bit like the Middlewood way Sett Valley Trail follows a disused railway line so it's fairly flat with greenery on each side. We did see a mobility scooter user on the trail. At Newmills we had time to take in the Millennium Walkway before getting the bus...

A gentle, wooded path between New Mills and Hayfield. A very pleasant place to go for a stroll, with points where you can break of for more adventurous walking such as Lantern Pike. The terminal points are pleasant interesting places where you can get nice food for a reasonable price. Well used by walkers, cyclists and people...
