Milnshaw, is Accrington's oldest public park. It is accessible from a few entrances, a modern metal gate at Lancaster Avenue, the playing field at the side known as "Owd Bobs" and a more circuitous route from Hyndburn road, via Asda and Hagg lodge. It is popular for dog walkers and has a surprising amount of bird and wildlife for an urban park. There are two associated bowling greens and work has finished (2016), on renovating the old tennis courts. These now host basketball,cricket ,football and general all-weather facilities. There is also a signposted fitness route . Update: New play area opened, July 2019. New facilities being built for the crown-green bowlers.(June 2020).

Read moreFantastic little park, tucked away in an estate. It has a huge climbing frame with a banging slide on it. Got some swings and a spinny thing one of you sits on whilst the other runs around and sends you into orbit. It also has a pump track for bikes and a free outdoor gym which is one of the best quality ones I've seen. Read moreSadly a victim of cutbacks and austerity. Despite new sports surfacing and a thriving crown green bowling club there is little else going for this council run park. The parks deapartment are doing their best to keep things in trim but you can just tell its a bit dreary. As always main users are dog walkers and sadly some still think its ok to leave the mess. When fines for fouling is enforced i think we would see an end to this blight on our public spaces....
