We came here yesterday 16/05/24. First of all this pub is beautiful inside and put. The acorn is dog friendly. We chose to eat outside in the massive beer garden. We had lunch here. We both had a mixed grill. A j20 and 2 tonic waters. We ordered via the QR code. The manager served us I know this as I asked her name. She is called Hannah, Hannah has outstanding customer service, she brought us our drinks and me a pint glass without asking for both of my tonic waters to go in. Brilliant! As we had the dogs with us I asked for a bowl of water which was brought in a proper dog bowl. Then we were provided with a doggy menu, even though we didn't take advantage of it this time. We will no doubt in the future. Our mixed grills were cooked very nicely. Meat was flavoursome and steak cooked as asked. Only negative was the onion rings were over cooked and so was the eggs. Everything however was really good and great for the price. Hannah took the time to chat to us and interact with the dogs. A fantastic place we will be back. Thank you

My first visit here, lot's of parking availability was a Thursday 6pm, so started getting very busy. I didn't have a main, only wanted Garlic bread, didn't fancy the Thur Steak n drink offer as eaten late lunch. I chose the Passion fruit refresher which was lovely, & after looking at the cocktails on offer, chose 2for£10.75, Long Island Iced Tea/Sex on Beach, very good, but my favourite was dessert, Sherry Trifle Cheesecake with sauce & custard, exceptionally tasty, could have done with a double portion though £5.75, portion was small. Overall it was a good visit, part of a large group, we were waiting a while, & those that ordered 1st were served last. There was also an interactive Quiz on also to keep us entertained, & lot's of Sport's TV on, around the venue, & another room's sectioned off, a big place. Every night there are food offers available, great for families too with a kid's menu 🙂.

I help run a Facebook friendship group with 3 others for the Lancashire area. This group has a total of 500 members, so we are always looking for new places to go for our group meets. I thought this would be a nice place to go as it is in the area where a few of our members are. There were approximately 15 of us at this meet and non of us would return. Pro *Nice atmosphere *Enjoyed the quiz. *Nice beer garden. Cons *Staff need training as not very attentive and non asked how the meal was. *Prices are very high for the area. *Food not the best-paid extra for a sirloin steak which had a big streak of fat all the way through the middle as well as the side which deemed most not edible. Half of the group asked for steak and none was cooked as asked (medium). *Filthy disabled toilet. We won't be going back and won't recommend which is a shame as lovely looking venue.

Well, where do I start. Tables were booked 2 weeks ago for a party of 17 for 6.15pm and food pre ordered. On arrival the tables weren't even set up so had to wait for that. Waited nearly an hour to be asked if we were ready for our starters. These came out in dribs and drabs after a 40 minute wait. Nacho share platter was that cold, the melted cheese had gone hard again and even after asking 2 times for cutlery it never arrived until I asked a 3rd time and the manager brought it over. You would expect it on the table as soon as you order the food. On asking the waitress she said it was only her job to serve food. Surely then on my first asking for cutlery she could have mentioned it to the relevant person.

Mains came out and all 4 hunters chicken where so hard they couldn't be cut and one even had signs of freezer burn on it. The mixed grills were so over done the meat was virtually black and the pork steak was like shoe leather to Chew. I had to go to the bar and ask for condiments as these had still not been provided. The manageress came down and got 4 more hunters chickens made as they where for the children mainly. I struggled through my mixed grill, because by that point I was exhausted with complaining. The manageress was very apologetic and couldn't do enough to ensure we were OK. She gave us a couple of rounds of drinks on the house and 33% off the bill for the inconvenience. Can't fault her or her husband, but the chef definitely needs to go back to cullenry school. My 15 year old son can cook better that that. We even to her that and she offered him an apprenticeship.Would I go again? If they changed their chef to a better one , yes as atmosphere and cleanliness of...

Thought we would try here as haven't been in a year or so and everything was going well to begin with. Ordered our mains which came within 15 minutes, I had the cowboy burger, partner had the steak (this was undercooked, practically rare) little lad had fish fingers. All in all it was an ok meal but for the price we paid I have had better at Wetherspoons. Fast forward - we thought we would have dessert so ordered dessert, 30+ minutes still no dessert and in that time there were kids outside swinging off the door; throwing salt and pepper sachets, jumping over the fence into the bush and much more. It got to a point it wasn't enjoyable and still no dessert. A server walked past and I asked for a refund she told me to wait a minute - no apology no asking for a reason why? 5 minutes later a young male came over and said 'do you actually want a refund because your desserts are ready'? Again, still no apology for the wait or anything and plates still in front of us. We got the desserts ate them and just left.

In all fairness the staff that they had on which was very little for such a busy day probably did best they could but we felt uncomfortable and customer service there were none. Couldn't even class it as cheap and cheerful food because it's not cheap, we spent £80 and walked away not satisfied.

UPDATE - I got in contact with Beth the General Manager and straight away she offered us to go back for a meal on the house which we did. The food was great, the service was great and we actually enjoyed ourselves. Definitely changed our perspective on things. Thanks again to the Team who served us, we...

Unfortunately we had an awful experience here on Sat 4th Feb. We reserved a table for 4 for 5:30pm. We ordered our food at 5:45pm and were informed there was a 45 minute wait for food due to the restaurant being busy, which we said we were fine with. However, by 6:55pm we hadn’t even had our starters (just basic stuff consisting of nachos for sharing and a Brie dish). I asked at the bar how long the starters were likely to take, and after a bit of an investigation was informed that there’s been a mix-up in the kitchen involving the order ticket system. Our starters arrived at 7pm, 1 hour 15 mins after ordering. Our mains arrived at 7:30pm and the food was, at best, mediocre.

I hate leaving negative reviews for restaurants and I like to think we’re fairly easy people to please, most of the reviews I submit on Google are positive, and I know the hospitality industry is struggling to recruit staff at the moment, but the service from the kitchen on this occasion was nothing short of a shambles. Everyone on the tables around us were complaining either about the length of time taken to receive their food or the quality of it when it eventually arrived. I honestly felt sorry for the supervisor at the front of house trying to fend off complaint after complaint from dissatisfied customers.

We won’t be returning unfortunately which is a shame because the Acorn is only around the...
