If you are a Leeds fan and have not been yet, what are you thinking? Get yourself down and enjoy one of the best football experiences in the world. Leeds fans always create a great atmosphere, and you will quickly get the bug, I promise. Getting a ticket isn't easy, but if you want to go enough, you will get one.
If you have children, definitely aim for the family stand it is very geared up for being there with young ones. Language can be strong, but this is where they learn that what they hear at the football stays at the football! Children are safe at Leeds' ground, it is very loud, and noisy, the toilets and food vendors are very busy with long queues, but you will never have to worry about violence or racism or anything else bad you may have heard. ... You might want to avoid the left side of the South Stand, though!!!
Beer and pies are available in the ground on match days. Hand on heart, I buy food in the ground more for necessity than enjoyment. Do buy a programme £4 (cash only with all but the shops and 2 vendors), worth every penny. (I sell them at the away end!)
Away fans - the security and policing in the ground is very professionally done. You will be safe. If you are coming by coach, you will be ushered straight in through a purpose built covered walkway without even seeing a home fan, if that's what you want. Like most Leeds fans, I love it when the away end is full, and there is proper football banter going on. Obviously, there is some genuinely nasty, hateful vitriole going on from both sides, too, but if you want to avoid trouble, you will.
There is loads of parking near the ground though it's very expensive. If you are running late or not worried about cost, it is definitely worth it. Local knowledge is probably needed for free parking. A bus shuttle runs from the train station on match days, though there can be a long queue on the way back. Queues for taxis after take an age, too.
Disabled access is excellent, no problems at all, there is a designated ground level entrance with its own toilets and food bar facilities.
The Old Peacock opposite the ground is highly recommended, though it is extremely busy match days, as are all the bars Leeds United provide themselves. I love Billy's Bar, but it can take a while to be served. There is an excellent chip shop and café, as well as a Subway and McDonald's next to the ground. Again, these are all extremely busy on match days, but highly recommended.
Final point, the club shop is superb and well worth a visit. This is open all times, not just match days. Oh, and final, final point be sure to get your picture taken next to the Billy Bremner and Don...
Read moreElland Road is honestly an incredible place to experience football. From the moment you arrive, everything feels well organised and full of energy. Match days run smoothly — parking and access from the street are straightforward, staff are on hand to help, and the whole setup feels professional yet welcoming.
The atmosphere inside the stadium is something special. Whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth, the passion of the fans, the singing, and the roar when the team walks out never fail to give you goosebumps. It’s football at its purest — full of history, emotion, and pride.
The staff are always friendly and efficient, and the food and drink options are great. There’s a wide selection available, and it’s clear the club has put thought into making sure everyone can enjoy themselves without long waits or hassle.
If you ever get the chance to experience the hospitality section, it’s absolutely worth it. The service is top-tier — from the quality of the food and snacks to the comfortable surroundings and the chance to meet or see former players and coaches. It’s a real treat for any Leeds United fan, or even just a football lover in general.
The views from the stands are excellent no matter where you sit, and the ticket prices are fair given the quality of the experience. You really feel like you’re getting value for money, both in terms of the matchday experience and the connection to the club’s heritage.
In short, Elland Road captures everything that makes football special — passion, community, and history. The images speak for themselves, but the feeling of being there is something that can’t quite be captured in a photo. I genuinely...
Read moreFor a once off experience with a little extra, the corporate route is the thing to do. We travelled over from Dublin, so had the additional expense of flights, taxis and hotel. The cost of the Centenary Centre, where you get pre match meal and drinks, plus half way line match tickets, and after match drinks. The cost of the Centenary centte package is not cheap, but for a once off match experience, is well worth it. We have done it once a season, so 3 times now. The meal is nice, the centre is amazing the way it is kitted out. Pre match talk from a former player, all adds to the experience. The pre match singing as the team comes out onto the pitch will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. My only complaint is the after match drink. You get an hour after the game back in the centary centre for after match drinks. The security can be a bit aggressive when looking for you to leave. I get it, they have to empty the place by a certain time and some people try to settle for the evening, but a little more softly softly lads. At 6 pm, throw them out if they have not left, but not from 5.30. We stayed at the Clayton hotel, it is half way between Elland road and Leeds City Centre, walking distance. Plus we stay 2 nights, taking the last flight Sunday night. Just in case SKY decide to switch the game from Saturday to Sunday, at least you are still in Leeds. Overall a great experience for...
