Seen from aboard ship and also on the shore, the Lodberries are basically houses surrounded by water on three sides, built out into the water. Bains beach lies between two of them. You can see where at some points, they can leave via a water side door and go down steps to where one presumes they kept their boats. Only place I have ever seen architecture established in this manner. No tickets needed, but I don't believe you can enter the individual residences...

Easy walk to this landmark, just steps from the Lerwick harbour-front and old town centre. Fans of novelist Ann Cleeves and the iconic tv show Shetland would especially recognize seeing first hand this historic 1700s era structure for being the fictitious home of "DI Jimmy Perez". The Lodberrie, also known as Robertson's Lodberry, is a residential and former commercial building in the Scottish town of Lerwick on the Mainland Island of Shetland.
