We made a reservation that morning for lunch and arrived spot on time at 12:30 on Saturday 7th September. We were escorted to our table, but after waiting for over 15 minutes we got the attention of a waiter who finally took our food order, including a pot of tea for two. After another 35 minutes we were getting rather concerned that not only our tea hadn't arrived, but when the table opposite us who had ordered AFTER us received their order, we were getting somewhat agitated. We were just about to complain when the waitress who showed us to our table when we first arrived, came to our table and apologised for not taking our order sooner - some 50 minutes ago since we sat down at our table! We informed her the young waiter took our order 35 minutes ago. She went away briefly and returned to inform us the waiter had FORGOTTEN to take our order to the kitchen! Although the restaurant wasn't particularly busy at the time, having now wasted 50 minutes of our afternoon we vacated the establishment uttering words of disgust to the staff at the counter. We live in Shetland, but regardless of its apparent good rating, we shall never bother to return to that establishment again. Review submitted 7th...

I stopped in for an early lunch located on the Commercial Street heart of old town Lerwick, but had to wait 45 minutes for lunch hour to start at noon. Being on vacation, this was not an issue for me, and I gladly enjoyed a local cocktail as I waited, seated near the front. I observed numerous potential customers being turned away for wanting coffee or tea only, as the restaurant was only doing lunch, which evidently they weren't - yet! At noon, my order was taken: seafood chowder paired with an Italian pinot grigio. A staff member spilled water on my table while delivering extra utensils. She was profusely apologetic, cleared the minor mess, and provided new extra utensils. The seafood chowder arrived in good time and was very delicious, with generous portions of mussels and prawns, along with squid, well seasoned in a rich, creamy potato based soup base, lightly flavoured with saffron and spring onions. Overall, this was a satisfactory lunch, and I would come back for the...

When looking on line for somewhere to have a Sunday roast we came across no 88. Reviews said great Sunday roast but then when we asked Mr Google for info it said it was closed on Sundays! Don’t be guided by that as they are open Now as regards the food. I advised them I couldn’t have garlic. I asked for a starter and the Sunday roast only to be told that both had garlic in. Very odd I thought for a Sunday roast to have garlic but yes the chef told the waiter he cooks everything in garlic. I was very disappointed. The ONLY item I could have was fish. I’m not a fish lover and even worse when it comes neither breaded or battered - just fish!! I did manage to get through it but I really hated all the bones! Hubby enjoyed his fish but I won’t be returning. It’s ok if you...

Had a quick lunch here after our shore excursion with Princess. It is easy to find, just walk straight ahead from Victoria Pier, straight across the pedestrian crossing and through a narrow alley that leads to Commercial St. and the restaurant is on your right. Cozy, little place, so you might want to reserve a table when a cruise ship is in town. The food was as good as the reviews suggested: fresh, delicious and plentiful. The staff were kind and attentive. We loved our short, but sweet visit to Lerwick and the Shetlands, would love to visit again. ❤️

This is a wonderful place to dine in Lerwick. The restaurant is lovely, comfortable and cozy. The staff were friendly, professional, and helpful. We had a superb meal. I got the plaice, which was the fish of the day. It was perfectly cooked, moist and flavorful, and accompanied by a fresh salad. My husband got the fish and chips, and (sorry Frankie's) we both agreed it was the best we had on our trip through England, Scotland, and the Shetland Islands. Perfectly battered and fried, and the haddock was so tender and moist. A lovely meal.
