From reading other reviews, if we'd sat upstairs then our experience may have been slightly different? We queued for ages at the door as you have to order & pay at the till just opposite the door. As the name of the cafe suggests, it's small. Very small. Really not a lot of space. Grumpy staff member preparing drinks shouts to other staff members "might make these people wait outside." We had the dog with us so had to sit downstairs on one of the four crammed in tables right opposite the food and drinks prep counter where you could hear grumpy staff member telling staff members off. Assume she was the manager? Staff member from the till did offer a bowl of water for the dog which was very kind. Food was OK, not bad at all but really not amazing. If you're not able to take cows milk & require soy you get charged 25p extra. Tea weirdly is served as a cup of hot water with a teabag on the side. As we were leaving, we walked directly past grumpy/manager & kind staff member so said thank you. Neither of them acknowledged us. Maybe we went on a bad day but really would not...
Read morePopped in here as we had been walking about looking for something to eat for about an hour and was advised to go here by the Tourist Info centre.
Went in and initially the place seemed vibrant and friendly but then that quickly dissipated. We received no welcome or interaction from the staff member serving us and from the start she seemed completely disinterested in us even being there.
Our whole order was taken to then be told that the stuff we ordered couldn't be given to us. We went back and forth, having to speak through what we wanted with 2 staff members at this point before we settled on taking 2 panini's and 2 coffees.
When the paninis arrived with our coffees, they looked like they had been thrown on the plate and the contents of one of the coffee were half decanted on to the saucer it came on and came to just shy of £20 for both.
Overall the service was pretty dire, the food served a purpose and the coffee was, to be fair, very nice coffee. I'd not be making any point of rushing...
Read moreVery Disappointing Experience. I visited Peerie Shop Café recently and unfortunately had a very poor experience from start to finish. • While ordering, I asked for an Orkney bread sandwich. The young man taking my order was pleasant and polite, but two other staff members interrupted and scolded him in front of customers, telling him they didn’t have that bread and he should only offer white or brown. The tone they used was rude and disrespectful, and it was uncomfortable to watch — I felt genuinely sorry for him. • We sat upstairs to wait for our food. When my buzzer went and I collected the order, half of it was missing. • My soup was cold. • The aubergine and mango bagel — which could have been delicious — had completely burnt aubergine inside. It was black, bitter, and ruined the flavour. Overall, the poor staff interactions, missing items, cold soup, and badly prepared food made this visit very...
