I have been coming to Alexandra palace for years. There are many happy childhood memories here.

When I heard they were reopening the theatre I was excited. For I love theatre. I was wondering how it looks. Given that it's part of a grand palace you are under the impression you are going to see something of immense artistic beauty, something with splendor.

Instead, nothing prepared me for the sheer horror that awaited me. Upon entering the theatre I was appalled at how ugly the interior was. The whole place was old, rotten, run down and falling apart. No care or maintenance had been done at all. It did not feel like a theatre at all. The whole place is in bad condition. I can't believe they opened a place like this to the public. It felt more like a dirty apartment. Give the place a refurbishment it deserves.

The worst thing about the theatre is that the seats close to the stage are ground level. Someone can block your view. It's an expensive seat. That's not how a theatre is meant to be laid out. It's a rip off.

The bars are quite bad. Little to nothing to choose from. Limited menu. Few snacks. They only serve popcorn that is mixed with salty and sweet. Why not make them separate? I wanted salty popcorn but the staff refused to serve it. Not good. Everything is expensive.

The theatre and bars are poorly lit too.

Overall a disappointing experience. Clean this place up. Give the theatre a new interior design. Get some proper snacks. Lower the prices. I don't...

Went to see A Christmas Carol in December and it was amazing. We sat in the third row from the front and the seats were perfect. The ambiance of the old building was perfect for the play, and the play itself, with Keith Allen as Scrooge, is highly recommended. My boys (10 & 12) enjoyed it too. Go and see it before it finishes if you can! I ordered ice-cream before and this was left on the bar for the interval. Toilets were busy as you'd expect, lots of cubicles but lots of people needing to go at the same time! We got an Uber to Tottenham Hale but there was lots of parking outside the door. This is an ideal theatre if you are disabled as there are disabled parking spaces very close to the entrance and you can select seats that are on the same level as the stage with no stairs to climb. I have been to the musical cinema at the same venue in the summer and sat upstairs which was also...

Had a lovely nite at the Whitney Houston tribute... Drinks were very expensive, ordered 2 double vodkas & coke..but didn't taste very strong...on second trip to bar ordered the same again, this time watched the girl making drinks....she only put one shot in each cup....when I told the guy who served me, he said something to her & she then put another shot in each cup....it made me realise that I had been ripped off 1st time...made me cross as drinks wernt cheap, how many other people got ripped off ? Thank god I watched her the second time... Word of warning...keep an eye on your order...it can be difficult as guy in front serves you, then girl behind him pores drinks..this can be difficult as bar very crowded, and girl is directly behind guy who takes order and money.....proper little scam going on...couldn't prove it 1st drink, but had wits about me on...

Visited in June 2023. 4.5/5. We came to watch the orchestral version of Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo & Juliet for the Backyard Cinema experience. First time to the theatre part of AP, which was a lot more spacious than meets the eye. It was a large auditorium and the acoustics were great, especially with the live performances mixed with the film. Despite the size, the seating wasn’t the best and definitely purposefully built - which brings down the score. The foyer had a large entrance hall with good facilities. There are places to buy snacks and refreshments - prices seemed fairly reasonable. The staff were friendly when we did interact with them. Also, there are a lot of other activities to do around AP, so make the most of it while you’re there.

I visited the theatre to watch Persuasion (very good btw) and was impressed by the many thoughtful touches to add to the comfort of users of the space. The seats in the theatre are comfortable - nicely cushioned. We sat in the raised tier which gave good sightlines to the stage. The acoustics were good. There is a bar and coffee shop in the main hall leading into the theatre (which also has a window looking on to the ice rink) and several free water refill machines. Paper cups a used and there are recycling bins for cardboard in the hall. There is cycle parking right outside. The W3 bud stops right outside and connects with Finsbury park or wood green stations. There is car parking available too.
