Read moreVery disappointed with my experience yesterday at Phoenix bar and restaurant. I had approached this bar and asked one of the members of staff how long the food was being served for and I was told it usually stops at 7pm but they have an extra 3 hour slot so I am able to order food without any stress or rush. I decided to order some food and I sat and waited my turn. I felt from the very beginning that some of the members of staff were being discriminatory and derogative . I am not one to complain about things like this as I don't usually experience this on a daily basis but they were blatantly being very disrespectful to both my friend and I. I got up to go to the rest room only to come back and see a lady speaking with my friend explaining how they are closing at 7 and we need to leave. At this point out food hadn't of even arrived and they were trying to kick us out. I explained to the lady that a member of staff had told us that they have 3 hour slot and we are able to eat. She then proceeded to tell me that if we had a slot reserved we can stay - This was never mentioned to us. If they had told me this to begin with I would of went somewhere else to eat. She asked the member of staff who had told us we can stay and he confirmed that we were indeed correct. Then the other member of staff who had told us earlier we can stay for longer approached us and spoke to me in a very sarcastic and disrespectful tone. I had addressed his behaviour to him.
I will never come back to this place - I myself own my own business so I have a massive understanding of customer service. To have experienced this at this day and age is immensely disappointing and I really hope you change your views on young people who dress a...
Read moreThis would be a nice bar if it weren't for SOME not all of the staff. The bar /cafe is in the middle of a huge park and its a favourite place for people walking dogs and dog walkers. Why then is this bar NOT dog friendly. The Victoria Stakes just down the road is a shining example of a dog friendly bar. They bring water and dog biscuits. They pat your dog, smile and are clearly dog lovers.unlike the suspicious glares in the Phoenix. It's not that I object to being asked to put my dog on a lead. It's how I'm asked. How I'm made to feel. Some staff speak to you as if (my dog is very small, quiet and well behaved), dogs are not wanted and neither are you the dog owner. But if you're both very well behaved they'll tolerate you as a special favour. Today I tried to sit outside the entrance so my dog could wander a little. She likes a little quiet wander before she curls up to sleep. The table was dirty ...not only did they not clean it when asked, they refused to bring my coffee out...we don't allow.china cups outside. The bar was quiet 2/3 empty midday on a Wednesday,. The atmosphere was so unpleasant by then that I left leaving their coffee unpaid for. I went instead to the garden centre cafe where staff were really friendly and accommodating and signs were up saying 'Dog friendly'. My advice therefore- IF YOU HAVE A DOG NEVER GO TO THE PHOENIX BAR. You'll not be made welcome. They obviously don't need your custom. Go to the Garden Centre or the fabulous Vic Stakes...
