I went to Autograph with a group of other students. We went to see a specific thing.
Yes some of the pictures were interesting but it was literally a group of pictures of black people which were thrown together; photographers unknown in some cases. They were all still in their boxes, nothing was on display, framed or hung.
There was a scattering of black books.
This was sold to us as a black cultural event. NO. It was unfinished, messy and they were not the work of the individual who invited us along. Just a load of pictures that she dug up.
So, as a black woman, you want me to be grateful for this mish mash. If you're going to do it, then do it properly. Don't just say "hey look pictures of black people, you're welcome" NO. Do things properly.
A well guarded secret, hidden away in boxes. A mish mash of pictures, some old, some new. A great many of them beautiful. An exhibition with no direction or story to tell.
VERY DISAPPOINTED SLOPPY SLOPPY WORK.
I gave 2 stars because there were disabled toilets which were easy to access.

Read moreIn a top tier location right in the heart of Shoreditch, this gallery really lives up to being in such a hotspot. Consistently great exhibitions that are challenging, engaging, and tackle worthwhile topics.
Most recently, they did absolute justice to one of my favourite artists, Lina Iris Viktor. Extremely well curated, it amounted to one of the best exhibitions I've seen in a long time. I really cannot stress enough how beautiful a display it was.
The gallery doesn't just do the highest end, it also meets the basics. It's fully accessible and with a good amount of toilets too. A beautiful space too.
This is one of the best galleries in the City, by far....

It made it easy to walk around while chatting to people. It made for a nice atmosphere. Staff were friendly and seemed interested about where we'd all appeared from.
