First visit and my experience was not great. I came with recommendation and great expectations, but I left disappointed. I would give a 5 stars to the market and 3 star to the restaurant in the ground floor. The shop has really all authentic Italian product that you can imagine. I have not seen that variety even in supermarkets in Italy. 15000 bottles of wines, hundred types of cheeses and food from every corner of Italy. For example, you can find a full shelf of Pistachio and Almond biscuits and spread from Sicily. You have 3 dining options. Two served restaurants in the first floor and a more self service one on the ground floor. Prices of pasta are not very different between them but the ones in the top have more options. We went with friends for the ground floor restaurant and ordered octopus gnocchi, pasta Bolognese’s and a focaccia. You get a buzzer to indicate that your food is ready to collect. The first problem I had was my buzzer never called and all my friends got food even if they order after. I went to complain and seemed that the order was lost or something so they prepared in rush “my food”. Then they gave the wrong quantities so I had to wait again for the missing dish so fast food became really slow. The Octopus gnocchi as disappointing, no much octopus and little bland specially considering that I paid £18 for the dish. The focaccia was great. Maybe I was unlucky but for would not recommend dining in here, at least on the ground floor. There are plenty of very good Italian restaurant’s options around London.

So I popped to Eataly on my own, waited no more than 5 minutes to be seated (it was packed on Wednesday lunch) at one of their restaurants (at the right of the escalator 1st floor) and sat at the chef area watching them make pizzas. Quick service and really attentive. I ordered an arancino to start. Super creamy and flavoursome with a not too garlicky dip… beautiful. With a pint of Italian amber ale which was incredible (sadly I forgot to note the name). Secretly I wanted a second arancino and second pint… both were that good. The real star was the pizza. Wood fired N’duja e burrata with onions and rocket. The dough was in my top 3. So so light and tasty with generous toppings. Great flavours from the n’duja. Not a ‘cheap pizza’ at £18 but great quality and ultimately I didn’t need to eat for the rest of the day! Could easily be shared between 2 people. Finished off with two scoops of gelato, salted caramel and chocolate. Both not too sweet, creamy and a great finisher. Zero complaints and would go back in a heartbeat. It could be slightly more reasonable but given it’s right next to Liverpool Street you can understand why their prices are as they are. As long as they keep using quality fresh produce with authentic methods, it’s hard to beat in this area for me. Recommended!

would like to make a complaint about a recent incident at Eataly. Yesterday evening I bought fresh pasta (photo attached) and when I opened the package, there was mould inside. Today, I went to Eataly to return the package. After waiting 5 minutes at the Info Point, finally someone very grumpy showed up. When I showed her the package, she only asked if I wanted the refund or a replacement. No apologies/ smiles/ hospitality. I said refund and that was it. There are 2 problems here: 1. How is it possible you spend a lot of money on “quality products” and you get rotten food? For example, a couple of months ago, I bought mozzarella from Eataly and you couldn’t possibly eat it - it was sour and musty, so I had to throw it away. Maybe I should have brought it back and ask for refund. But why does it have to come to this? Today, I wanted to buy salami but again, there was blue mould on the white coat. 2. Why is the customer service so unfriendly? Last week, we had dinner at Eataly, on the terrace and after I paid and left, I realised my card holder was not in my bag. I went to the same Info Point and the same lady cut me off saying nobody brought her any lost items to the lost and found section. She opened a drawer (I imagine that was Lost and Found) and she said “No”. And that was it. I have been living with an Italian for years and we’ve got sooooo many Italian friends, and we travel to Eataly very very often, both north and south, so we know what hood Italian food is and how friendly and nice Italians are. People in London (or around the world) could make an idea about Italy and Italians based on the service and quality of products at Eataly. But shouldn’t! Such a shame!

This trouble happened to us at night, February 17th. Returning with my husband and our dog after a festive dinner in a restaurant in a good mood, we decided to have a glass of wine in Eataly. There was no dog sign at the entrance as you can see it in the photos. Since we always respect rules regarding pets, my husband entered the restaurant to ask if it was dog friendly. I stayed outside with my dog. After getting a positive answer from one of the staff, we entered. We bought wine and some cheese and settled down on the second floor. Our dog slept under the table, none of the visitors and staff complained. We were drinking wine and enjoying the evening when a security guard approached us and said that we must leave the place because of the dog. We tried to explain to him that we asked the staff and were allowed to be with the dog. In response, the guard told us the following: "If I ask the staff about it, will they say the same?". The guard literally accused us of lying. This attitude greatly surprised and upset us. Needless to say, the celebration was ruined. We certainly do not recommend this place and will never go there again even without a dog. We advise the administration to pay more attention to familiarizing the staff with the rules of the restaurant and friendly service. If you are strictly dog-free, it would be nice to see signs on your front doors to prevent visitors with dogs from spending money at your place. It's very mean to wait for customers to pay and then kick them out, isn’t it?

We walked in on a Saturday without a booking and were lucky to get a table. However, the experience started off on the wrong foot. The host's initial lack of attention set a poor tone – she acknowledged me, but in the middle of my question, she looked away to join another conversation with her colleagues before eventually turning back to help. Once seated, the service started well despite a small hiccup, which is understandable and not a big deal. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. No one checked in on us as the meal progressed, and empty plates sat on the table for an uncomfortably long time. I had to chase someone down just to order more drinks, and as I write this, I'm already dreading the process of flagging someone down to pay the bill. The staff seemed inexperienced, likely students, which isn’t necessarily a problem, but they clearly need more training in customer service. Without that, it really tarnishes the restaurant's reputation and makes people hesitant to dine here. As for the food, it was a letdown. The portions were small and lacked flavour, which was especially disappointing given how highly this place is spoken of. There are many more authentic Italian spots in town that offer a much better experience. I really didn’t want to leave a negative review, but this visit just didn’t live up to the expectations.

The food the good but security guard is bad!!!! I have experience the only racist I have ever encounter in such big supermarket in the city centers. The first time when we checkout, the safeguard suspect that we don’t pay for our paper bag therefore checking the history of machine and stop us from leaving(we have spend £50 and you telling me we don’t like to pay for a 50p bag?) . He asks us have we pay the shopping bag, and we say yes, but he still insist the check it and being impolite, that causing lots of unpleasant. This experience only happen to me among all the customer checkout. The second time when I checkout, this time because I didn’t buy a bag, so he can’t stop me for no reason, but he still go head off immediately to the machine I used and check my history which, I haven’t completely outside the store. However! This unpleasant never happen to people before me or checkout after me. The only difference I could spot between me and they, is that I’m Asians. This is really horrible , and really unbelievable. You really should stop your security guard from being racism and impolite. If you want to check, make sure check every one on the line, not just only Asian among those customer
