Canbury Gardens is a much loved local park right next to the river Thames, the perfect balance of green space, tennis courts, a playground, cafe and a pub albeit insanely expensive. It is however unfortunate that the council don't love it as much as the residents of Kingston do.

The general upkeep of the gardens seems to amount to bin emptying and grass cutting. The possibilities for this space are endless but the slow decline of the paths, walls and general infrastructure is a huge shame.

I'd love to give this a full five star rating but that would be sending the wrong message to the local council, do they read Google reviews?.

Good place for a dog walk, picnic and to see the changing seasons close...

This is just the reset I’d been needing that I hadn’t known I desperately needed. As a visitor to the area, recently coming from Ireland, I missed the grounded-ness and the Christian atmosphere of Ireland.

My time in this most wonderful park along the River Thames gave me a proper dose of reality large cities tend to leave behind in the name of progress - where we spend more time in striving, like crabs in a bucket, than in immersing ourselves into the beauty that’s all around us.

Praise God for this wonderful-filled place.

Enjoy!

❤️

Kids play area for people living in Kingston, Ham & nearby. Well equipped with Swings, slides, artificial green mat, spring rider, rubber trails, rubber arcs, small mountain & colourful mushrooms. Thames river within 100 meters walking distance. Gated garden for safety. Walking distance from Kingston train station. Families usually coming here for picnics & riverside parties do visit the park as well. Lushy...

A former dumping site bequeathed as ( mostly) a linear park aside the Thames and opened in 1890. A complement here of superior sports and outdoor facilities, a cafe, bandstand, all in an excellent state of repair. Largely unheralded beyond local familiarity, this is well worthy of wider recognition as the one of London’s best parks and worthwhile destination if exploring the area. Trust me, I’ve visited many.
