Comptoir is a wonderful restaurant by Kingston Riverside. Nestled among a variety of restaurants along the river is a nice restaurant serving Lebanese food. The quality of the service was excellent; the staff was welcoming and friendly. The food was quite pricey for the quantity that you get. Spending over £60 for 3 guests while feeling as if we could have another full meal straight away isn’t a good sign. However, the food that was served was very fresh and tasty as you would expect from an authentic, high quality Lebanese restaurant. They didn’t skimp on the flavours for my dish which was the mixed grill. The meat was moist, full of flavour and the salad was to die for. The other dish was fish with brown rice. That dish was good but not great. It was screaming out for all of the garlic and chilli dips that came with it to elevate the dish which again isn’t completely satisfactory. I was quite disappointed that they didn’t have the rolls for their Lamb Kofta roll which was the dish I wanted to order. Considering it was early afternoon, it was odd to me that they ran out of the rolls without informing us after they handed us the menus. Overall, I enjoyed my time at Comptoir. It’s a fun atmosphere in the afternoon and perfect to visit on a bright sunny day. Sitting outside was a great pleasure as we enjoyed the sun and fresh air which added to our lunch experience. The downside would be the pricing on the menu as I don’t think the prices match the amount of food you get from each dish on the menu. A lot of their dishes don’t come with a side chips or rice, you have to pay for them separately which feels like it’s just too much.

I recently visited Comptoir Libanais in Kingston and would like to provide some feedback on my experience. The restaurant's location and interior design are truly impressive and contribute to a welcoming atmosphere. While the starters were enjoyable, I found the main course to be lacking in quality. Despite being served on a tagine plate, the lamb dish resembled meatballs and did not adequately absorb the sauce plus undercooked, leading to a disappointing overall taste. Additionally, the service was slow, resulting in extended wait times for both ordering and receiving our food. Upon arrival, the dishes were only lukewarm, suggesting a need for improvement in kitchen management and attention to detail. Furthermore, I found the pricing of the dishes to be on the higher side, considering the overall dining experience. It is worth noting that outdoor seating allows smoking, which may be a concern for some patrons. However, I appreciated the proactive response of the staff when they noticed our dissatisfaction, as they kindly offered complimentary tea and baklava. Overall, while there are aspects of the dining experience that could be improved, there is potential for Comptoir Libanais to provide a more consistent and enjoyable experience for its customers.

With family and friends we visited restaurant from the same brand in Kensington. The experience was amazing Sadly I cannot say the same for the restaurant in Kingston We went for late lunch , restaurant was nearly empty and we waited to be seated. It was 10 min wait until someone came to seat us in. Then the wait was followed by 15 min for until someone came to take our order. Food arrived quickly which is great what a improvement. Seeing the aubergine - halloumi burger I can clearly understand that this burger has been hit by the inflation. 2 thin slice of aubergine bonded with 2 thinner slices of overcook halloumi all of that squeezed between large brioche bud generously covered in sauce. For £16 is unacceptable. Tabbouleh salad was also hit by the same inflation rate and but the taste of unseasoned parsley was even worse. The slow cooked chicken with olives and couscous was average My daughter received used kids menu for painting and drawing which good - saving threes anyway the child did understand when I tried to explain to her. The only good thing was the beer from Camden brewery- thumbs up for that. Will I recommend it to someone - No Will I return back here - No I hope the one in Kensington will not fail down as the one in Kingston

I went the previous week with 2 friends, and we all enjoyed it, so I was glad to be able to come again this time with family. This time we tried the Meze platter and I had halloumi and salad as well. (I shouldn't have done, really - but every dish looks so exciting and I have come to know that they are all spiced exactly to my taste, not too spicy, not too salty - just right!) The meze platter was intended for 2 but quite enough for 3 with baba ganoush, (aubergine dip), labna (strained yoghurt), houmous ( chick peas and tahini), 2 falafel (a ball of grains), and 2 pastries filled with cheese I think - feta perhaps - light, crisp and a delicious mouthful)! My halloumi salad was bulgar wheat and crisp squares of fried halloumi with salad- all melt in the mouth and mixed with such tasty sauces and dressings. This is the first time for me that I didn't even look for extra salt and black pepper, it was all just right!

Oh service was slow at first, but then they were very busy and I only saw 2 waiters. But when someone came to our table everything went smoothly. I suppose I was surprised that the meze platter and halloumi salad came at the same time - I'd expected the meze to be a starter, but the table was big enough for everything and we were able to share a bit of everything. It was very filling. I had some mint tea and orange and almond cake as a digestive (!) I am so greedy!

I felt the price for all this reflected the quality! About £40 each, but we did have wine (orange and white wine sangria) and that would have been £8 each, so I think it a good price.

All in all, an...

After spending the day out in Kingston l thought this would be a nice way to finish the day . Decor was lovely and we were welcomed in. We ordered some drinks wnd starter which came promptly. We ordered mains at the same time. Halloumi was lovely but it being shared we were done quite quickly. After waiting about 40mins after finishing we mentioned we had been waiting a while . The guy said he will see what’s happening. He came back and said sorry 5 minutes it takes to cook its being done now which obviously meant they forgot the order. We then had asked for more drinks mid meal. 15 mins later the waiter came over and cleared one persons plate as they were done without asking if we had finished or if he should take the plate . He also went to take mine whilst I still had my fork in my hand food on my plate. I felt rushed wnd just put my fork down and said take it . He did not say one word .

So the second order of drinks didn’t arrive the mains were late and the table cleared before finishing without asking.

We asked the guy who cleared the table for the hill we then raised the issues and he didn’t apologise he just said “ you said you was done” But I explained it’s only because your hand was taking it. I felt he was rude. We asked for the £6 service charge to be taken off he then had to talk to the manager to arrange this. From previous experience it’s generally polite that the manger checks everything is ok.

The food was ok I had been to the branch in Westfield and must say was more impressed there.

What a disappointing end to...
