We visited again this weekend, many family members are buried here and we travel from Essex to the crematorium Today we had lunch at the cafe and we were very impressed with the staff and service. By chance a lady was queuing in front of us and asked if the chef was able to make her a salad, currently not advertised on the menu, the lovely man offered to do it and made suggestions as to what he would be able to serve. She potentially made her own salad menu. Whilst listening to the man who was taking the order I very soon changed my mind from the sausage sandwich that I was going to order and asked if I could order the salad as well, he sold it to the lady so well that it was impossible to resist. Once freshly prepared and served it was an absolute treat. Well presented and lots of delicious ingredients, at the end of the meal and leaving, I made a point of going back to the counter and expressing my gratitude and appreciation to the staff for the delicious food and service provided, I suggested that a salad option be added to the menu or specialty board, as at present there is not one advertised. I would totally recommend that if anyone wants something that is not on the menu, just ask if something can be served within the kitchens capability, the staff I’m sure will be happy to oblige. Well done and thank...
Read moreI’ve been visiting this cemetery since 1989 and have two grand parents and a brother there. It was on a recent visit 17/06/18 I was horrified at the state of the graves around where my brother is, whoever is cutting the grass has a total lack of respect, with grass cutting thrown up over the grave stones which are later baked on so hard by the sun on to the stones making it difficult to remove. Small momento’s broken and just left in a very disrespectful condition. I was forewarned by my mother that on her last visit some four weeks earlier she found the grave in the same condition so this isn’t a one off, and I walked all around the area of New Rd and found other rows in the same condition. As I’ve said I’ve been visiting this cemetery for nearly 30 years and have always found it in excellent condition, I’m only hoping this latest episode of poor ground maintenance changes, I’ll be back over in a couple of weeks and if things haven’t changed then a formal complaint...
Read moreThe photo of the tree is in fact in the Garden of Remembrance. This is part of the area where you can (for a fee) spread the ashes of your loved ones. Even in December, it is a truly lovely place. Unlike some cemetery's, the City of London is maintained to the highest standard. The staff that I met, were kind and considerate and fully understood our needs. The facilities are first class. There are well placed toilets, all cleaned to a high standard. There is on site, a Café,which I have no hesitation in recommending, good prices and quality, with short waiting times. I must also mention the on site Florist, the lady who manages it, is a proper florist, we were not disappointed with her arrangements and floral displays, all reasonably priced. Loads of car parking, all free! Our thanks to the City of London Cemetery. ...
