Golden Fleece — Restaurant in London

Could be a nice place to eat and drink, if only they would implement some of the features of other greene king pubs. The bar staff didn't do the best of jobs.

In broken Indian/ English i was told no burgers available for 45 minutes. So had to cancel our order which included other items. After searching places to eat near me, we found there to be not much other options available locally, so I went back to the bar to order different options. Then to be told burgers were not available for an hour. So I'm glad we didn't order them first time around. Or we could have been in for a long wait. Then the alternative option, lasagne, turned up with just a sprinkle of rocket and a tiny piece of garlic bread. There should be chips with this meal as it was not enough to feed a small human adult. Luckily my wife shared her chips or I would still be hungry.

The fish n chips was very nice, so that raises the 2 stars to 3 .

I would not chose to eat here again, unless I was just hoping for a small snack.

Other food options that are available during Monday to Friday are not available on the weekend, even though that's when it's busiest. So that should change.

General atmosphere was good, with plenty of people walking through the door, however, there were at least 10 tables with reserved signs on them, but in the hour we were there nobody sat at them.

So the reserved signs, should state a time of reservation, as we were perched on the barrel seating inside the main front door with no other options.

Bar staff need to be more attentive to the needs of the passing through customers. Not just...

Fantastic food, children and dogs welcome, play area for children, friendly staff, large beer garden, dissabled access to all areas, TV in all areas including the garden and wansted flats over the road.

Update on our latest visit. 20th August 2016.

One problem, when claudia the manager is away, the bar staff have no idea about running a business. We sat down for a meal, finished it and then was told to move as the tables were booked that evening. These were tables in the pub and not in the back room where bookings are made. We decided to go to the fleece as we have been going there for years and to be treated like this is beyond a joke. It was my daughters birthday and about 30 people were coming so they could have had a lot of custom there way. We were not told when we arrived. Bad bad way to treat long time customers hence only 3 stars now instead of 5.

Update on a visit Sunday 18th June 2017: I was at the bar ordering food and the two male bar staff were talking in their own language whilst I was telling him what we wanted to eat. When eventually the food did arrive, the order was wrong. Ordered rib eye steak, got cheep fatty rump steak, £s less than what rib eye is. This is an English pub so...........SPEAK ENGLISH AT ALL TIMES when serving customers. Now only one star. Will not return again. Sorry Claudia, but your staff is rude and ignorant. Sort them out. This was my first time at the restaurant. I was with my brother and his family and his friend and his family. In total there was 6 adults and a child. The table was already too small for a group of our number but we made it work. After ordering at the bar we didn't have to wait too long before the food started to appear. The two families had ordered starters, I ordered a main only. My main was brought in along with the starter, the other starter took a while to come. (there was 3 seperate orders for the same table) I sent my main back so that the we all can eat our main meal together. When the other starter arrived, the mains for one family was brought in along with my main but the other family was again left waiting. After enquiring about the delayed meals and the cutlery and napkins, we finally all got to eat. The same issue happened when waiting for the dessert. The Eaton mess was a disappointment for the family that ordered it, the picture below will speak for itself, unfortunately it didn't taste great either. The day just went downhill and the service defiantly should be better. The attitude of the staff was lack luster and as customers we all left feeling the same, that they didn't care. Our complaints were met with a more diffensive attitude by some. As for me, I won't be visiting again.
