Nevermind forest gate hotel, this place should be called forest gate dungeon.the rooms, hallways, landing and bar were filthy.the back yard was full of rubbish and the bar stools stuck to the carpet.my partner and i needed a place to stay last minute and cheap so very stupidly chose this dump, price was reasonable and the photos looked basic but clean and was nearish to central london so we deemed it appropriate, and ive been regretting it ever since.we were greeted by a stand off-ish bar lady who took our payment, gave us the keys and told us what time breakfast was etc.we were shoved in the attic, the room was small, dingy and half the furniture was broken.the shared bathroom was disgusting,i didnt shower for the 2 days we were there with fear of catching rabies, the plugs had more hair than kate bush and if you were over 5"5 you may aswell forget fitting in the shower.in the evening we sat in the bar and minded our own business as we were concerned about the general clientelle trying to sell us drugs or kidnapping us.to be fair we had a good nights sleep as the local street gang departed around 10pm and it was quiet there after.in the morning we went down to the bowels of hell for breakfast-which was okay at best served by a person that didnt know what butter was.the following morning my partner refused to attend breakfast due to the disappointment of it,so i was a lone diner.i was told off for attending breakfast at 9.15 even though they were serving until 9.30,not the 'good morning'i was hoping for.overall,a terrible place with few pros and i would strongly urge people not to book here if they intend to live a long and...
Read moreWe arrived in London and got stuck for accommodation.. saw this hotel and thought “bargain” as it looked perfectly habitable in the pictures... when we arrived we walked into a pub to be met by two guys fighting over the pool table and they immediately wanted to involve me and my girlfriend.. we instantly gripped each other with fear.. we were then told to walk up the most horrendous corridor and staircase to a room that literally wasn’t fit to be used a morgue!! The microwave looked like it had appeared on an episode of brainiac science abuse.. the beds literally should have been preserved as a nature reserve as there was more bloody life on it than the corral reef.. we sat on the corner of one of the beds desperately begging other hotels to let us stay and even offering to pay beyond the prices!! Thankfully £99 later I had a room at premier inn.. Now we had to escape.. getting out of the sh*thole without being murdered was my greatest plan.. As my girlfriend had already been crying in fear of her life I told her to keep the tears on and we would run out through the pub screaming we had to leave as there had been an emergency.. all whilst having the taxi poised around the corner and ready to go!! I truly believe bear grylls would have found it difficult to survive a night there!! PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW YOURSELF OR ANYONE YOU KNOW STAY IN THIS DISEASE...
Read moreThis is definitely budget accommodation. Potentially overpriced. A bit like a youth hostel but with private rooms. Shared toilets and showers. Doors to toilets and showers were in a poor state of repair. Some toilets didn't have toilet paper. The shower room seemed clean enough. The shower itself was good but the attachment to keep it in position was missing. No lock on shower door. I was in a twin room and it seemed clean with clean linen (but that should be expected). Staff were friendly enough. The breakfast was ok. Nothing special. Personally I think they should do away with the breakfast and drop the price a bit. Downside of being above the pub/bar is that it can be a bit noisy....but that's to be expected. On the plus side there is a secure car park at the back which would fit a few vehicles. In short it could do with a good clean up and repairs being undertaken. I noticed that some people were smoking in the rooms. I did not like this as the smoke was drifting through the building. But I am very much against smoking and do not like the taste and smell and breathing it in. But I guess you have to consider how much you are paying and why you are using it. It can be quite subjective and some people will...
