Not usable unless you absolutely have to. Like being in a zoo, it's unreal. Stinky, filthy in some places, a pile of (pubic?) short curly black hair in the family changing room, smelly men who don't wash all around you and getting in the pool unwashed. Body odour everywhere. The cleaner is working relentlessly it seems but there's only so much you can do when you have gone out of the way to accommodate people who shouldn't be there at all as they can't follow the rules of civlised behaviour and made the rest of us suffer or stay away.
It saddens me that the council is ripped off and our money is wasted on a place to be run so badly by Better
Some men wearing t-shirts and very long shorts and women wearing leggings and long sleeved tops getting into the pool and and head to ankle covering to swim in in the baby pool. And occasional wetsuits. How do people who are fully clothed wash before getting into the pool? None of them were seen washing by the poolside and all got in dry and unwashed.
So you swim in filth, while surrounded by pieces of fabric. It's essentially the same as washing one's clothes in the pool. As this is so highly unhygienic, the pool has to be extremely chlorinated. Very unpleasant to be sitting in a pool surrounded by people who are fully clothed. They can't swim either so should accept that we swim in swimsuits or don't go there. Every illogical belief shouldn't be accommodated at the cost of reasonable people.
Some men use the jets in the kids pool for bathing, although less than I saw before when we stopped going completely for that reason. This is a learning pool, for babies and small children, no big hairy men should be splashing around in there and having their bath.
And then same selfish users sit in the kids pool for hours, and exceeding their 50 minute slot if they even did have it booked in the first place, putting off paying customers and decent people that respect others.
Absolutely disgusting for the pool and Better to allow people to swim in anything other than swimming costumes and trunks, or maybe, at a push, shorts. Mind - none of them swim, they just sit in the pool for hours. Why are you trying to attract the demographic that shouldn't and doesn't want to be there? People like us who actually want to use it, respect the ruls, and spend money to support it don't go there for that reason. That's why your lido is emplty in 38 degrees heat.
The pool stinks of sweat and body odour as you can imagine wearing and swimming in a head to toe outfit in a warm pool is highly unhygienic and unpleasant. None of those people actively swim so there is not much point in their being in the pool for hours
Saw situations where a brother wears shorts and the sister sits in the pool draped in clothes and unable to be free or feel water on her skin or same with husband and wife. What a way for a pool to support and normalise mistreatment of women and promote mysoginy and oppression of women.
The pool management, you need to sort it out.
Meantime I'll have to...
Read moreI am a Hillingdon resident and received letters about the outdoor Lido pool now heated to 23 degrees all year round. So we booked 2 tickets. We were very excited about this. Took the day off so I could take my son for a Family Swim only to find that due to rain much earlier in the day, they had moved all Family Swims to the inside pool. What is the manager worried about, that swimmers may get wet? It was sunny and warm when we arrived, the rain had stopped, and there were TWO!!! lifeguards still on duty at the outside Lido pool. Even ground water had evaporated but they would not let us into the pool for our booked session. No notice, no signs and absolutely no reason not to allow us the swim we were so looking forward to. Any swimmers that did not want to swim outside when it actually was raining earlier, could have been given the choice to go inside. The manager would not speak to me to explain and none of the other staff could understand his decision either from their comments to me. Not to be flexible and now allow the use of the pool that was now in full sunshine with two lifeguards was unbelievable to me. Will it be closed the next day too just in case? This is England. There will be the odd shower. I then had to try to get a refund which they could not perform by either cash or card. They said they will send me a link to get it. I doubt I will receive it, I have not received it yet and I will never be able to explain to anyone over the phone about what happened to get the refund as they made no notes about it and the necessary department cannot be contacted over the phone. The alternative they offered was a swim booked for later but how will I know whether it is worth taking another day off for it if they do not even open the outdoor pool on a sunny day in August with 2 lifeguards on duty? I pay for this facility through my Council Tax and then again £12 for our tickets (plus parking). To have no access to it in this situation is ridiculous. Now I have experienced this, when the pool’s “all year round 23 degree heating” where even winter is therefore implied, cannot be used on a summer’s day, it is simply not worth me...
Read moretoddler world for young children, visited yesterday morning with my grandson who is under 2 years old, before the summer holidays there was always a member of staff on duty while toddler world was in progress, this was not the case yesterday ,and yes I understand that children are the responsibility of an adult at all times however had a member of staff been on duty yesterday then some serious safety concerns could have been addressed and action taken promptly. on arrival it was evident that the gates into the hall would not close properly so there was a risk to young children being able to run out of the large hall, the equipment with the two small slides was not fitted correctly and was loose and mobile so myself and other parents had to interlock it together to make it safe for children to use and the very large inflatable did not have the side safety nets in place meaning a child climbing up to use the high slide could have fallen and sustained a serious injury there was only 1 safety mat at each end of this equipment not several all the way around so no safety mat next to the high slide which didn,t have the safety net attached , and even more worrying the whole structure collapsed and partially deflated when young children were on it . I did take photos at this point. the session runs from 9.30 -11 am I went in person to reception at 10 am to report my concerns about safety and asked for a member of staff to attend no one came until 10.30 when a worker from the creche and three children arrived ,after speaking to me she immediately phoned upstairs to reception and at 10.40 a member of the sports team came down and unplugged the large inflatable equipment , leaving only the bouncy castle and a very small amount of toys for the children to use. on my way out I went back to reception and asked to speak to the manager on duty about the safety issues and was told the person was busy filling out some forms so would be about 10-15 mins wait , I left and complained about this via email which up to now has...
