It is the best museum in the entire city because it is not like any other museum in the city.
Please make the effort to head to the end of the DLR and walk through Lewisham Shopping Centre, no matter who you are or where you’ve come from.
It fully embraces the bit of the past that people genuinely find enthralling - the stories in history.
It is one of if not the most immersive museums I’ve ever stepped foot in and that coupled with the incredibly personal stories of real people, it makes for an incredibly powerful and deeply inspiring visit.
You get the sense of hundreds of voices speaking about their worlds instead of a sole curator’s choice cuts from the archives.
It is in my mind essential exploring for anybody interested in the complexity of humanity and the kaleidoscopic wonder of the modern world.
The staff are tremendous and actively encourage the sharing and collecting of migratory stories from everybody who arrives.
In terms of a museum being a place of shared experience where everyone can explore their collected histories and delve into the histories of others, than the Migratory Museum might be unparalleled.

The best photographs were the big ones on the stairs outside! I would have liked a clearer focus - some of the exhibits I had no idea why they were there or what relevance they had to migration. I will not...
