One of the best, but least known, parks in the city. Mile End Park stretches from the edges of Poplar, through the midst of Mile End, finally connecting with the western edge of beautiful Victoria Park and Hackney. The swath of green space it offers provides ample space for picnics, sports, family outings, and leisurely strolls. Adding to an already great formula, the park houses several great restaurants, a rec centre, football pitch, track, pub, gallery, and a fully protected wetland. It's even possible to bike from end to end without crossing a single motorway. This can be done by either following the Regents towpath or taking advantage of one of London's few green bridges, which passes directly over Mile End Road. If you can ignore the piles of discarded nitrous canisters, the are few places better to spend a sunny day...
Read moreIt's a wonderful place that is a habitat for different species of fishes and birds. But it's in a terrible state! Trash is everywhere. I saw a bird getting trash from underneath the water and trying to eat it. It's sad that such a wonderful place is in such a terrible state. I spoke to several people representing Canal & River Trust and they said that situation worsens with every year. They don't get enough support from the government, so it's up to people to save this place! Please, if you have trash, don't throw it on the floor or in overfilled bin, keep it until you find a bin that is empty. Today I travelled several stops in London until I found available trash bin. It might be an inconvenience, but it's not hard. It's our city, with wonderful nature. We need to keep it clean and be responsible for it, for our...
Read moreThis park had great potential but it is littered with problems.
It is a large park that runs along a canal and has multiple segments to it. Each segment contains different features like open field, play area and wooded parts. These features makes it an open place for all.
The canal is particularly horrid. It is full of rubbish that is constantly theorem into the water. There are no cleaners to get rid of this problem so it just stays there. Where the are large bits of stagnant water horrible plants grow across it. The water is so polluted that I have never seen fishes in it.
At night the park becomes very dangerous. Multiple muggings occur in short periods of time. There is very little lighting so you...
