As a group of 3 we went here to eat for Iftar, we arrived and were seated 30 minutes before Iftar. They had an Iftar platter you can order but it had the usual desi foods you tend to eat at home.
As we wanted to order from their normal menu and not order the Iftar platter, we were told to wait for our mains an additional 30 minutes after Iftar time which they were somewhat accurate to. Everyone ordering the Iftar platter will get their food on time though. The starters that we ordered came not long after Iftar which was good, but the wait time from the starters to mains was a long time.
It did feel as though the people ordering the Iftar platter were prioritised in getting their food first and were given dates and water, whereas we had to ask to be given some dates. Also a side note they don’t offer tap water at the establishment.
The prayer section at the restaurant is just the downstairs area of the place where they initially have additional seating but used as a makeshift prayer place for Ramadan I’m assuming. The floors did feel unclean and sticky and there were no covers on top.
In terms of the food, the starters were okay, the wings for its price were really on the smaller side of things but had decent flavour. The lamb chops were a bit dry but the duck taco was very nice and would recommend to order that as a starter.
The drinks were nothing special, served in a glass, I ordered a J20 and felt as though I got given less in a glass than you’d get in the bottle. My friend ordered the strawberry and red bull mojito suggested by the waiter and found it okay.
The mains in terms of the steak, both Angus and Argentinian were ordered by my friends and they couldn’t really distinguish much difference between both cuts. I ordered the chicken steak and I liked the touch of mozzarella they give on the side but it really did lack any taste and was very cold as though it just came out the fridge. The chicken itself was nice with the peppercorn sauce provided.
Service did accidentally give one of our steak orders onto another table as my friend waited and had to ask staff for his food and only then did they retrieve the food from the other table and give it to him with his chips arriving after that as well.
The sides were the veggies, mac and cheese and chips. Chips were cooked well tasted good. The veggies were also cooked well and had good texture but really lacked in any flavour or salt at all. The Mac and cheese had a nice char on top with extra cheese but the inside tasted like the cheap microwave Mac and cheese with runny consistency, big disappointment for the price.
Overall the vibe of the restaurant is nice and service is okay but food did sort of let it down, value for money did not feel justified and honestly would not really...
Read moreA lovely modern 5star hygiene rating steakhouse restaurant on Mile End road close to Mile End station and close to Queen Mary University Campus. A two floor restaurant with space for over 100+ people. Modern, airy and beautiful decor, comfortable seating, spacious dining tables and ambient and mood lighting. A very calm and relaxing space. Staff are very friendly, cheerful and ready to advise you on option choices, order quantity and other dietary needs and of course take group photos. We ordered a mix of Mojitos, starters and of course steak. We ordered lychee, mango mojitos and for one of our brothers who just got back from Hajj a Bar Tender special (thats the pineapple drink in photos). Drinks were chilled, well flavoured snd very refreshing. Starters didn’t take too long. We ordered a mix of different flavoured wings (dynamite, Korean wings) and fried calamari. The starters were beautifully presented and full of flavour and tasted lovely. Everyone ordered different steaks (Black Angus Sirlone steak, Argentina Sirlone steak cooked to different levels from medium, medium well and medium raw. The steak was cooked to the right level, well flavoured and comes with either mushroom, peppercorn or rosemary gravy sauce. Steak came with fresh cooked roast potatoes on the side. We ordered extra steak chips and sauté vegetables. Sauces were well flavour and went well with the steak. The price for the steak was great value for money considering with what other restaurants are charging. We all felt the pricing was great value on all items in a lovely restaurant central to the East End of London. In many other restaurants you could be paying a lot more so we will all be back with family. Meals were finished by getting complimentary Turkish tea. We paid around £35 each which is great value for money. A great restaurant, great staff, great decor, great atmosphere, great food and of course great company. NHS staff also get 10% discount on all orders. A great place for a party as we saw with a ladies group celebrating a friend’s birthday, special family events or private groups gathering on basement floor. Thank you to restaurant, the chef for great food, staff and management look for great service and price and we all look forward to our...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to try this place after seeing some glowing reviews online. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t quite match the hype.
Starters We began with the calamari and the duck taco. The calamari was a pleasant surprise — fresh, perfectly cooked, and paired nicely with a tangy chili dipping sauce. I’d definitely recommend this as a starter.
The duck taco, however, was disappointing. The shell was slightly stale, and while the duck meat itself was moist, it was drenched in chili oil. There was no salsa served on the side, as one might expect. My husband didn’t mind it, but for me, it was a miss — especially for anyone sensitive to spice.
Mains For mains, we ordered the Black Angus steak (my go-to dish at most steakhouses), the lamb shank, and the king prawns.
I specifically requested my steak medium-rare and was told, “It will come pink on the inside…” — an early red flag. What I received was, without a doubt, rare: very red in the center with a charred exterior. I asked for it to be cooked a bit more, but it was simply returned warmed through, still undercooked. The texture was overly moist, which made me suspect it had been cooked from frozen. It completely put me off my meal.
The lamb shank was average at best — bland and forgettable.
The king prawns were a decent size but were served on a bed of chili sauce — not mentioned on the menu. By then, I’d lost all appetite and declined their offer to prepare something else. I just couldn’t bring myself to try another subpar, misrepresented dish.
The Pina colada and Pink paradise Mocktails have great flavours. I’d recommend trying those.
Ambience & Service On a positive note, the restaurant was clean and had a nice seating layout. Parking wasn’t an issue, as we found a spot just outside. The use of smoke — both with the mocktails and when serving mains — was a creative touch and added a bit of flair.
Service was prompt and attentive throughout, which I appreciated.
Final Verdict Despite the effort with presentation and good service, the quality of food fell well short. Between the inconsistency in preparation, misleading menu descriptions, and lack of attention to detail, I wouldn’t return — nor would I recommend...
