The Coffee Room - Mile End — Restaurant in London

I am a local customer and l have often been here for the amazing cakes. The last few times l have felt that the service was awful. When l arrived the man and the lady were talking non-stop despite noticing l was waiting. The lady finally asked for my order barely making any eye contact with me, and handed me the take away box (l was carrying many bags) without asking me if l wanted a bag. Overall, she was very cold and the experience was a bit upsetting. I just thought 'maybe she is having a bad day' and moved on. This was until my mum came back one day telling me how she had not been treated well at this cafe. She ordered, and when the man got the order wrong, she told him about it instantly he sighed and seemed annoyed. Apparently he was very cold as well.

Of the four cafes located at the Mile End intersection I think this is the best. Unlike some of the other cafes nearby here they open early and close late which is great since I cant always find the time to visit cafes with narrow opening times and unlike Starbucks and Costa they actually make good coffee here. The selection of pastries and desserts is fantastic too and I enjoy them when I can, though many of the freshly baked croissants and such are often sold out by mid-day so you'd have to come in the morning if you want to grab one which I reccomend you do. The indoor seating (when open and covid aside) is really cozy and pleasant, the staff working here are also all nice and friendly and they offer a loyalty card so you can get some freebies if you're a regular. I'd give this place 5 stars if the guy member of staff with glasses actually cracked a smile and had any kind costomer service instead of looking like the worlds going to end everytime I go in and replying with grunts. I remember the last time we came in my friend ordered avacado on toast and he brought a piece of bread out with massive pieces of chopped avo on top, she told him mate this is a slice of bread, do you mind actually toasting it and he brought it out 10 minutes later burnt and with a chunk missing.

Either way, the foods lovely and the atmosphere is great. It's just a shame...
