For US travelers:
The reviews below I think are kinda misleading. It's in a wonderful spot right next to the street where the Portobello Road Market spans. I definitely think it is worth a quick visit if you are in the area to shop or to look around. You would know this place if you have seen the movie Notting Hill.
However, it is way too crowded and a lot of tourists are coming for that exact reason above. It's cute to take a photo outside (I took a better one than this photo but won't show for obv face exposure reasons), but like I said, way too crowded. However, the workers are super friendly and inside is pretty "cute" I guess.
I would like to note that if you are a tourist mother or a father who can't control their children or do good parenting if they are making lots of noise or being rude by pushing people, please don't come to these type of crowded places or any place in general.
I would give this place a 3/5 for my true rating because its just a normal bookstore that got its fame from being featured in a movie. But I try not to give a low rating unless there is something absolutely wrong...
Read moreSuch a lovely little spot! If you’re a fan of books, movies, or just charming places, The Notting Hill Bookshop is worth a visit. It’s small but full of character, with shelves packed with everything from classics to cute gift books.
Of course, if you’ve seen the movie Notting Hill, it’s fun to visit and take a photo outside, it’s iconic. But even if you haven’t, the shop still feels special. It has a cosy, peaceful vibe that makes you want to slow down and browse for a while.
Staff were friendly and helpful, and there’s a nice mix of genres, including travel, fiction, and little gems you wouldn’t find in bigger stores.
Great for a quiet break from the busy streets of London. Whether you’re looking for a good read or just want to experience a bit of literary charm, this...
Read moreI visited this bookstore last Saturday as part of my ‘Explore Notting Hill’ itinerary and very excitedly bought a postcard and the iconic tote bag. To my dismay, I lost both within 10 mins of leaving the shop - it was hung on my shoulder and I didn’t realise when it slipped off. I traced my way back to search for it but to no avail. I came back to the shop and checked with the lady at the till but even she hadn’t seen it. Seeing my utter disappointment, my friend decided to buy me the bag but to my surprise the bookstore lady offered it as a gift (probably my heartbroken face was too evident)! I really hope this doesn’t get her in trouble cause we were so touched by that gesture and it literally made my week! Thank you for being so kind and I’d love to come...
