Disappointing experience at the Frieze stand. While the artwork and installation were genuinely beautiful, the experience was completely spoiled by one staff member’s attitude.
We simply wanted to ask about the installation. The man at the stand snapped, “Can’t you see I’m talking to someone?” We apologized and said we’d wait. Once he finished his conversation, he turned his back to us, sat down, and started pretend working on his laptop, clearly ignoring us on purpose.
Another staff member stepped in and was lovely and helpful, but that kind of rudeness from the first person was shocking. If you don’t like engaging with visitors, maybe this isn’t the right job. When you represent a gallery and artists, basic respect and politeness should be the minimum.
