Chicken Run Manchester — Restaurant in Manchester

So. I've been walking past this small shop the past few months. The amazing smells wafting in from across the road, tempting me to go in, without ever actually doing so.

And today was my christening.

Chicken Run do not offer fast food. They offer a cuisine. Guised under the humility of a corner shop.

How confused and excited I was to have asked for a burger and for the lady to tell me that they don't serve burgers. Nor wraps.

She offered fried bead with strips of chicken.

At it's most basic. It is just that. A fried baguette with an unholy amount of chicken for the price. And a generous amount of sauce.

At it's most austere. It is an experience that is a gem amongst the dull offerings of everyday fast food. A space that transports you somewhere else. Somewhere where food and laughter go hand in hand.

I was delighted with great conversation and laughs throughout. A buying experience that is seldom found amongst the fast pace rigours of normal shopping. Amongst the large corporate experience that has people work like fax machines and wear tired, inauthentic smiles for your custom.

Chicken Run. Guiltly, many a times, I've walked past you and always found myself amused by your name, it's always sounded funny to me. I'd imagine chicken doing their best to escape being fried! Haha!

But your food and service is nothing short of a prized find amongst an ocean of commonality.

Food is fine but a SHAME about the service. You walk in smiling and happy only to be greeted with the snarkiest looks from the front of house servers. Was screamed at by a young woman named ‘Meesha’ for nicely asking about the price of a fish meal which had two different prices on the board. It was very uncalled for, a very dark energy. I just walked straight out and luckily spoke with one of the guys outside about it who apologised on her behalf. Ultimately took my money elsewhere and bought food from the grill across the road. I’m aware it’s not everyone. But it has happened on 1 too many occasions when I have witnessed the staff at the front to be abruptly rude. As someone who has worked in customer service myself, I understand that there can be times when customers are genuinely annoying and for that I always make it my mission to treat someone else how I would like to be treated. I didn’t deserve to be spoken to the way I was and I’m flagging this up because I am not the only person who has had a similar experience. Kindness and respect...

Wasn’t the friendly of service but same time staff look so tired and hard worked so I guess if they were treated better maybe they would be happier… There was hardly any meat in the chicken and red inside chips were well over done when you bite them it’s like air first… I was happy about the gravy which helped the food a little I was to hungry not to just eat it and then I am so upset that they charge extra for using a card never been in a food takeaway that charges for card the community love has gone from this place and the amount of years and money gone into that place it’s not good and should change the name because the chicken don’t run anywhere as they no longer deliver… The place seem to have gone downhill overtime but since the original owner left it’s not been the same doubt I be going back and will just remember the...
