Woodland wins out over Victorian industrialisation. Nature has truly taken back the land. A peaceful tranquil haven bounded by Levenshulme, Reddish and Heaton Chapel. Full of wildlife, wildflowers and mixed deciduous trees. Mostly woodland with some open space, ponds and a brook. Birds throughout the day; foxes and bats at night. The main pathways are suitable for wheelchairs, prams and cycles, although there are some slopes and not all entrances are as easy to get through as would be ideal. Wellies needed for the more minor paths. Nice picnic areas. You can see a lot more stars that you'd expect once you're properly in, with neighbouring allotments and a golf course helping reduce light pollution. It's very much a mini get away from the car filled streets and it's so close by, a real mini forest. Me and my beautiful wife frequent Highfield to get away from the noise and the hustle and bustle. Funnily enough my beautiful wife gave birth to our third beautiful daughter at the picnic area, we were very worried as it was a fast labor and we thought we couldn't get to the road in time to get an ambulance. Luckily enough people emerged from the surrounding forest and helped deliver our third beautiful daughter calmly, efficiently and with the up most sanitation that only a team of the most experienced midwife's could muster. Would go...
