I went to an open evening where amongst others I was given the tour and a brief explanation of what goes on here. The water level was down but there were still some fisherman who I had the pleasure of asking how it fishes. I understand it is a very hard water to fish, one chap had been there 3 days and caught two small roach. There are carp, but bream dominate and the catches are not frequent. Plenty of dog walkers but I'm sad to report the walk wasn't actually that nice. It really is just walking around the lake and when compared to parks like Elmdon, it doesn't come close. There's also blue/green algae which is a threat, it could and should be removed. The 3 levels of membership seem quite restrictive, they have a lovely bar but this would only be for the sailing level membership. Seems bizarre to restrict that from fishermen and dog walkers as a fortune could be made, especially if they do food also. Some of the pegs are 10ft from the trail, but the majority are right on it meaning that you won't remain secluded for the longer sessions where this may be important to some. I'm sad to say that I will not be joining but will look forward to when the lease expires in the years to come and the canal and river trust fulfil their intention to turn it into a commercial fishery.
