The Brunel Shopping Centre has been a vital part of the community for many years, and as a local, I rely on it heavily for my shopping needs. I was heartbroken to hear that it will be demolished, as it has been a convenient and affordable shopping destination for many people in the area.
Despite being a relatively small shopping centre, it has a good mix of shops and services that cater to the needs of the local community. In particular, the Farmfood is a popular choice for many, offering affordable and good quality groceries.
One of the best things about the Brunel Shopping Centre is the cheap parking. It is rare to find affordable parking in most shopping centres these days, so this is a big plus for customers.
Many small businesses operate within the Brunel Shopping Centre, and they need support now more than ever. These businesses are often the backbone of local economies, and they need the support of the community to survive. Shopping locally not only helps support these businesses but also keeps money circulating within the local economy.
While it is sad that the Brunel Shopping Centre will be demolished, it presents an opportunity to create something new and better for the local community. Ideally, the new development should be a mix of shops, services, and affordable housing. There is a growing demand for affordable housing in the area, and incorporating it into the development would be a welcome addition. A community space, such as a library or community centre, would also be a valuable addition to the area.
Overall, the Brunel Shopping Centre will be missed, but the opportunity for a new and improved development...
Read moreNice cheap and cheerful little group of shops, cheap parking that is easy to use as just pay at the machine when done shopping (cameras take your car details upon entrance, just pop your reg into pay machine before you leave ) . Absolutely love the bakery/coffee shop. Get great bargains on beauty, toiletries and travel items in SAVERS. Stock up with great food at rock-bottom prices in FARMFOODS. New clothes and accessories on a budget in SELECT. Shoes on a shoestring for all the family from SHOEZONE. There's a WILKOS ... for...well, everything! Then seriously, treat yourself to breakfast or lunch from the bakery! Amazing pastries - sweet and savoury. I bought some amazing rolls to go, great selection, large sizes and cooked to perfection... and so very generous considering the low prices!. I love this shopping centre and high street. If you want to have a mooch about for the day, plenty to keep you busy and food and drinks of all varieties everywhere, plenty of cheap parking, disabled ♿ parking. It's also my go to shops when I need to race around to grab several/few bits, from several/'a' shop. Plus, you're also right on top of the bus station that serves all routes in and around MK. Also, couple of mins walk to the train station.
It's an old school high street set-up, with a tiny shopping centre at the top end. Next to several banks, charity shops, vaping shops, by a main post office. I'm glad it still resembles itself back in it's glory days, when I was a child throughout...
Read moreDon't judge a book by it's cover, a phrase that perhaps sums up this small shopping centre. I usually end up visiting the Brunel whenever in Bletchley, and from the outside it looks, well, awful to be honest with it's black glass panels, all very outdated (A quick fix solution would be to vinyl wrap these panels or clad over ...please!). However, once inside it's not too bad, and being naturally lit via a glass roof, feels more spacious than it is. Again, I'd have to say rather outdated with it's 80s angular protrusions, and certainly do with some plants around to capitalise on it's outdoors, indoors feel. That said, what's more important is the variety of shops, and whilst the selection could be better, mostly based around a certain demographic lets say, at least all the units appear to be open for business, a rare thing these days.
Briefly, the main shops are: Card Factory, Shoe Zone, Poundland, Brighthouse, Savers, Farmfoods, WH Smith, Boots, and a few others, including a jewellers, ladies clothes store, and a cafe. Just outside at the High St end is a very good Wilko, the other, CEX, and Sainsburys.
You'd hardly call this place an exciting or modern shopping experience, but it's well worth a visit if in town, and could easily be facelifted.
Parking: We always manage to find a parking space in the free car park at the opposite end of the town behind...
