Combe Martin Museum — Attraction in North Devon

I popped in hers briefly while the rest of the family continued their stroll around this little village.

I didn't go straight into the museum but I got chatting to the friendly and very informative gentleman at the front desk. He shared with various facts about the village. For instance I didn't realise that Combe means Valley and that Martin was one of William the Conquerer's generals who was gifted the village after the Norman invasion way back when.

He also told me that the one and only mail street which makes up the village is the longest in Britain. Not many people know that.

I would have invested the princely sum of £3 to visit the museum but the rest of the family had already moved on to get back to the car...

OMG what an amazing place x so much to see and do and visit or stay holiday cottages etc x 2 weeks cottage stay for me x what a hidden gem, folk are very friendly x amenities co op outstanding 10 out of 10, it has ATM machine, parking , everything you need stamps etc etc , walk or drive to the shops , butcher , cafes ,museum church, car parks with free toilet acess ,texaco petrol station, combe beach , walks coast x I could go on x highly recommend this place to stay or visit x...

Five stars from us! Combe Martin Museum is a large, independent, fascinating museum near the harbour and beach car park. The town museum has its own website, and there is a local history website. They are missing opportunities - the town and its museum should actively promote Combe Martin's amazing heritage alongside its gifts and books. It could certainly attract more tourists and educational...
