We visited this pub today as a family and wish that we never bothered. We had had such a lovely morning and just wanted a nice area to sit in the sun and have a bite to eat. We hadn't read the reviews of the focsel but we stumbled across it when going for a walk. As it was in the sun and on the beach we thought that we would sit here together. When we arrived the lady at the door wasn't approachable and made us feel very unwelcomed. I didn't say anything but wish that we had left then. You would think that this pub would want custom following the pandemic but their customer service was shocking!!!
Once we sat down the tall bald miserable guy wasn't listening to what we were asking about ordering! He was talking about the NHS app that we had already scanned. We ordered afternoon tea and felt that we had to make some jokes with the lady that unwelcomed us in to ease the tension. This wasn't for us to do but felt we had to. The way we were spoken was harsh abrupt and very short. We would never return here again.
I know that there will be an abrupt response following this review just like any other negative review on here. You guys need a lesson in customer service and I suggest you go back to basics. You have had time to recharge your batteries so should be happier that you are back in business. I am a nurse and haven't had time off 10 months, I didn't need this on my holiday!...
Read moreWe went one night for a meal, which was lovely. I had the mushroom and spinach pie, it was very tasty. The chips that came with weren't my favourite chips that I've ever had, just standard frozen chips, I thought perhaps they would have been home made for the price tag of £18 for the meal, but they were fine and done the job. The pie was lovely but think it may have been warmed up in the microwave as the pasty wasn't crisp, had that slightly soggy texture to it. Again for the price tag expected that tiny bit more. The salad was lovely and fresh. Husband had the meat pie and his was similar but very tasty he said.
Staff were lovely and friendly. It is very dog and kid friendly too 🙂
Our second visit was to sit outside and have some drinks. We came the Bank Holiday Monday night to see the final of the tradition of 'The Hunting of the Earl of Rone' which was really interesting to see. Lovely how the whole town gets involved. The kids played on the beach while we sat and had a couple of drinks waiting for them all to come down with the Earl. Lovely atmosphere and really enjoyed talking to local people and other holiday makers, everyone was really nice. Staff were great and managed the crowds well, service wasn't affected at all 🙂 Couldn't have asked for a nicer spot to watch the sun come down and the tradition...
Read moreWe have spent many enjoyable evenings at this pub, and it has quickly become one of our favourite places to relax with a drink. There is something very special about sitting with a lovely pint in hand while looking out over the beach. The view is beautiful at any time of day, but at sunset it is particularly stunning and creates such a calming, memorable atmosphere. One of the things we really appreciate is how dog-friendly the pub is. Our four-legged friend is always made to feel welcome, which adds to the overall homely and relaxed vibe. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the whole place has a warmth that makes it easy to settle in and stay for a while. When it comes to food, the pub doesn’t disappoint either. On our most recent visit, I tried the lasagne, and it was both delicious and generous in portion size, comforting and hearty, exactly what you want from a traditional pub meal. While the outside seating area is tempting, being so close to the beach does mean it can get very windy at times, so we usually choose to eat inside where it’s cosy. Overall, this pub is a gem with great drinks, great food, and a truly...
