The valley/nature reserve and mill are hidden gems with lovely woodland walks that’s adjacent to a Siston Brook, river and an oasis for wildlife. There are two ponds one new the other repaired thats home to frogs, dragonflies, damselflies, pond-skaters, water-boatmen, newts etc. Many birds can be seen and heard including kingfishers, woodpeckers, jays, buzzards, dippers, robins, wrens etc. I’ve been fortunate to see bats but as yet not seen the resident badgers, foxes and otters. I love the seasonal flowers especially the snowdrops, bluebells and crocuses, it’s a photographers dream to visit here.
There are lots of activities for families including forest school for children. There's a good café where the coffee and cakes awesome. The Artwork includes several amazing mosaics, the latest is a large newt, animal wood carvings and signage. Love Willsbridge its definitely...
Read moreLovely walks and gardens but the cafe really lets it down. I took my father and children for a day out here and the cake my father and I had was meant to be a sponge, but it was really hard and stale! My father, being too polite to say, didn't mention it until I mentioned it to him and I took the remains of the slices back to the cafe to complain. I got a bit of a weird look like they didn't believe me, and was given one Bakewell slice instead for myself and my father to share... when I looked back inside before we left the other remaining couple of slices of cake were still there. You'd expect them to be removed but sadly some other sucker was probably left to pay almost 4 quid for stale cake! Luckily the walk we had afterwards redeemed the trip. Hence the 3 stars. I sadly won't be returning as I'd rather go somewhere else for a walk with a good cafe,...
Read moreWhat a gem of a place! There is a lovely 45 min circular walk that takes you along both sides of the river and is suitable for those on two or four legs. For those on wheels there is lots to access in around the mill area but the natural terrain along the paths is too bumpy for pushchairs or wheelchairs. So many birds to see and hear and lots of opportunities to drop down to play by the river. New features include a fairy garden and a soon to be opened pond area all blended in skillfully with the Woodland...
