Biggest Park closest to me. Multiple large field areas that are regularly used by dog walkers & sporting events like football tournaments etc. There is a miniature railway track that you can ride on (First Sunday of each month I think), a fenced pond and the children's play area is dated but quite varied and provides plenty fun for toddlers to pre teen kids. most would be happy to play on the varied activities & apparatus for hours & hours. There is also a few picnic tables that are mostly shaded by large trees. There is dedicated fenced 5 a side/basketball courts, tennis courts, bowling green and 2 all season outdoor table tennis tables. I recall seeing media coverage that the children's play area was to be renovated/redesigned a number of times over the last 6 years or so but it looks the same unfortunately. There is a Harvester on the grounds with a reasonable sized bar, large indoor & outdoor seating including dedicated function rooms that require pre-booking and adequate free parking for...

I went there for a raver tots event which was really good. Parking and toilets were free and easily found car park is a bit tired but perfectly functional, free so 4/5 on that space and greenery - since I was in raver tots I didn't see too much but from what I could see there's plenty of trees and they look pretty healthy. There's loads of space paths are pretty good. Mostly smooth with a bit of wear in places toilets. I did go to a park toilet once and while it was incredibly industrial looking, I guess it's meant to be indestructible since its a public toilet. It did have most facilities, no soap, but sheets of loo roll and a hand basin + integrated dryer staff. I spoke to someone whilst asking where the loo was and they were polite and helpful

Its rare I'd ever give a 5* unless it was absolutely amazing. I wouldn't say it was quite that which is why I've rated it a 4. But there's nothing I can complain about really. So...

only commenting on the football pitches there as im sure the rest is lovely. the pitches are awful. when will the local council bother to do something about the pitches there? do they even cut the grass or to they leave it to the local wild life to keep the grass just short enough that you cant lose your feet in there. leaning over goal posts. stones in the goal areas. teams are coming to play against our local teams and are regularly complaining that the surface is dangerous in places and that they are in no fit state to play on. the main bad ones are the ones close to the Honey end lane side. for the money our clubs are needing to outlay to play on the pitches please do something about them. i know they are council pitches but there are many council pitches outside the Borough that we regularly play at which...

A great public park in Tilehurst Reading with outdoor facilities for running, walking, tennis, children’s play area and Harvester Restaurant with its own free parking. The parking is free for all and it’s a great place for jogging and running around the path encircling the park. There’s a bowling club near the Harvester restaurant, tennis courts and 6 a side football courts. There’s no coffee shops or any other outlets selling anything but in summer an ice cream van does appear to do a great business. It’s a very convenient place to organise outdoor events with permission of the local council and there are a few events happening each year - food festival etc..

I went to the park to attend a car show but unfortunately the hassle of trying to get there overshadowed the whole event. There seems to be only one way in and out of the parking area at the park and that, combined with the narrow, busy streets leading to the entrance means it was very, very slow to get in and parked up. A waste of time and energy I’m afraid. It’s great having a park in a city but what’s the point if you don’t cater for people that need to drive there?

I have been going to Prospect Park for more than 20 years and I have seen all the transitions it went through but I must say this recent half a million pound revamp has totally changed the play area! Family of two toddlers we throughly enjoyed our visit today and we literally had to drag our kids out because of the rain otherwise they didn’t want to come! There is a nice cafe as well just across the play area with lots of greenspace for picnic or walks!
