What a day out. The entrance price is reasonable and well priced for such a museum. Placed next to the train station and the tram stops. We traveled from Hebden Bridge on the train. We did notice a large car park at the rear of the museum which was sign posted. The museum is an old fire station with fire engines from the past and other equipment. Kids driving games are good. The museum staff are all volunteers who are ex-fire fighters. That makes the difference. This makes the whole visit really enjoyable. The volunteers have loads of storeys and can explain what each piece of equipment was used for. There is so much to see in an old fire station and listen to. These volunteers are really worth their weight in gold. So many museums have staff who have some knowledge of the museums history, this one has volunteers who served and knew the station when it was active. We had a near personal tour. The cafe is nice and really well priced. A family day out. My son dressed up in a fire fighter's uniform. So did my wife. We loved it. Really is recommended. We will be...
Read moreWe visited on a Saturday morning as soon as it opened , with our son who has autism. We were lucky as it was still quiet then, we had the whole place more or less to ourselves. We absolutely loved our visit. This was our first of many ") My son is really into fire engines at the moment and this was the perfect place. It was very interactive, there were fireman props children could try on and role play, a fire engine interactive game which was loads of fun, some steps with a fireman pole to slide down for the kids which we tried! There were fire engines that you could climb inside and have a look at close up. There's a shop at the entrance with so many cool emergency vehicles and books etc and there's also a cafe. The staff were absolutely brilliant. They were so welcoming and very friendly. We had a great time overall. I highly recommend it. Definitely coming back...
Read moreWe had a great morning, visiting The Fire Station Museum, with our two Granddaughters age 10 & 8. Very friendly and informative staff, the majority who are ex firefighters, lots of interesting tales to tell, making the artefacts and ancient fire vehicles even more impressive and enhancing the whole experience. Lots of interactive and hands on activities for children (and adults) of all ages including a fire engine, dressing up fire fighting clothes, and a mini fire pole. The information boards are clear and easy to read and understand. The whole museum is very clean. There is a small gift shop, cafe and free on site parking. Highly recommended. It is a credit to...
