I went with my Father who attends Walking Football. It's an activity put on for Seniors who may have had an interest in Football and who's Memories may be less "Sharp" than the Footballer with a similar name back in the day! Answere Anyone? ..... I admittedly watch from the touch line? While my Father at the Age of 91, puts me to shame with his detemanation & stamina dribbles (footballing term!) with one of the training footballs arround and is lightly tackled by an apponent keeping possession, doing a cheeky backward pass suprising the tutors!! Although its spelt differently it must be in the "Family Name"! Answers Anyone? .....
As a Youngster My Father was into his Football, he still winds people up when they ask him 'who do you support? The Blues or the Reds? As he's in Salford, Gtr. Manc. He Reply's 'Its the Red.........and Whites' !! 🤔 The Black Cats....... Anyone know who he means just by that? Answere Anyone?....... ( We will get back to you with your Score ) Don't Google it!! It was the game that broke language barriers when he was in the Army. Tours of Duty in Malaysia & Singapore. Language barrier between the English, Irish and the Scotts at times too.

Read moreA nice local park to relax in especially in the hotter months when you can lie in the grass and soak up the sun. There is a kids area, outside gym (not well maintained), football pitches, bowling green, tennis/badminton/ basketball court and even two table tennis tables to be used. So plenty to do if your wanting to stay within your local area.
Its also a good park for dog walking and we've even noticed a regular dog walking group meet up (if you've ever heard the howling beagle, thats them)! The park is better maintained compared to Kersall Wetlands but still needs alot of improvement to be at Peel Parks standard. Unfortunately we've also encountered some problems here with antisocial behaviour from young teens. We've seen fires being started and even had rocks thrown at us and others from an unruly pack of them that just laughed and continued. Unfortunately this isn't the fault of the park, community officers should atleast walk through occasionally to reduce these events.
The park needs lighting throughout at night time as once it's dark, you cannot see who is approaching you and it can be quite...
Read moreHave been going to this park since I was little, now with my son I come when I'm nearby too. The park is big has a lot of grass so it's great for a picnic also great for walks and the path around is good for rollerskates. I always loved riding my bike on the walking path as its mostly smooth and that's great. There's also a gym and a play area, outside the play area there is some climbing stuff and a little trampoline and other fun things can't exactly remember. In this park there is a football court and also other courts for other sports I can't remember from my memory exactly and I don't live so close anymore. My last visit a couple days ago, we sat on the grass and my son just ran around and absolutely loved it :) the good thing is that he couldn't run away anywhere where I sat with him because of there being so much...
