I'm an ambulatory powerchair user so my review is from that perspective. I visited the Bracklinn Falls today with my trusty canine companion Minstrel. My opinion is that only the most adventurous wheelchair user should attempt a visit, with steep hills and sharp curves it's a bit difficult to reach the falls and unless you're very able you won't be able to reach water for a paddle once you arrive at the falls. I couldn't even let Minstrel get a paddle because of my poor mobility. There are two car parks the first had a single track tarmac road to reach the footpath to the falls. There are two passing places but it's tight, the second car park up the hill is small and fills up quickly but that would be the best place to start your adventure if you intend to visit, and have mobility issues. I would not attempt this trip in a mobility scooter, in my opinion it's far too steep in places and if you're in a manual wheelchair take a young strong helper along to help get up the hills. I reiterate, only for the most adventurous...
Read moreIt is the perfect car park for a walk to Bracklinn Falls. The car park itself is just a little small for the number of people that want to use it. Otherwise it is a totally great car park.
We took the circular route. Which I recommend after the falls you have a long climb, but it is certainly worth it! The path to the falls is very well maintained, a broad gravel path. Very suitable for wheelchairs. ( Going back from the falls to the carpark might be challenging) After the falls if you follow the rouw the path becomes a small one person track with some big rocks, until to forest road is reached. Half way this route there is another big waterfall that ends in a big pool, called scouts pool. The perfect spot for a picnic or if you are up to it, a swim. Although the water looks very cold, I've seen a number of...
Read moreTook a trip to Bracklinn Falls in Callander when the weather was proper hot. Exactly what I needed that day. Nothing fancy - just the simple sound of water flowing over rocks, birds chirping, and that clean air hitting different after being in the city. Had to watch my step though - those rocks near the water get proper slippery, so you need to be careful when you're getting close for a better look. Nice spot to just sit on the rocks, chill out and forget about everything else for a bit. Cool place for a wee break from the usual routine. Definitely worth the visit when you need to...
