The Back Bar, Callander UK — Restaurant in Scotland

Would give this place no stars if I could! Had booked a table for 2 for 7.00pm - when we arrived no table was there for us. A member of staff then came and got a table. Asked for the menu and when it came only had a choice of 4 main courses - I asked to see the manager as I had been on their website before booking and it had a varied choice. Manager who came was extremely aggressive towards my husband and I - he said shortage of staff and only two commis chefs were the reason and if we didn’t like it then go!!! I asked why he hadn’t altered the web page if this was the case and again he became very aggressive! Told us it’s not a restaurant it’s a bar. Will definitely not be back and certainly would not recommend...

We entered with a wedding part about an hour before their scheduled closing time, the bartender welcomed us all with open arms turning on the tvs and began with wonderful service of foods and drink. I had the haddock with chips. My fish was fried golden brown to perfection. My daughter had the mac and cheese, it was absolutely lovely with the creamiest cheese sauce ever. I seriously don't get the poor rating. We didn't eat there but the atmosphere is excellent. Laid back, friendly, with inexpensive drinks, cold beer and helpful, efficient staff.
