I parked at Kirkgate Park Kinross my starting point for cycling round Loch Leven on the Heritage trail a great cycling and walking trail, at this point there are children's swings also a large grass area for playing, there are toilets and the boat trips to Loch Leven Castle leaves from here, I cycled at an easy pace round the loch, it took me 2 hours including 2 stops to take photos. Lovely, well kept place which was wonderful for a walk and had a lovely little town attached. We tried to have a drink in a bar on the edge of the loch and the staff were uninformed of their offerings and didnt know that the beer we were finally offered was actually unavailable as the lines were being cleaned (in opening hours?!) They didn't offer an alternative to us so we left. This was the only downside however and didnt detract from the scenery.

Access is down the narrow Kirkgate road which is largely single track with passing places. There are several parking places to choose from all the way to the road end. There is a play area, paths along the water’s edge and wide vistas across Loch Leven. Toilets are available too. Plenty of grass to play on and people are able to launch canoes, kayaks etc if they want to get on the water.

Ah, Kirkgate Park — where dreams go to mildly disappoint and the local geese rule with an iron wing. Fancy a scenic walk with a side of aggressive honking? Look no further! It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy nature while constantly glancing over your shoulder, wondering if that flock is getting closer (spoiler: they are).

There’s grass. Lots of it. The kind of grass that says, “We tried mowing last year but decided to let nature take its course.” Playpark? Yes — perfect if you want your child to experience the thrilling danger of splinters and slightly wobbly equipment.

The views of the loch? Stunning, if you can ignore the distant hum of a teenager on a dirt bike trying to summon the spirit of Evel Knievel. Parking is plentiful, mostly because everyone else already knows better.

And the best part? The weather will change six times during your visit, so bring sunscreen, a parka, and maybe a small dinghy — just in case.

Five stars. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a park that doubles as a mild cardio workout (from running away from geese) and an existential experience about the futility of...

Beautiful, busy with walkers, cyclists. Great views across Loch Leven to the 'Sleeping Giant' on the hill of Benarty. We were told that from a very small age! The only reason I knocked off 2 stars, is for the midges, they make life very difficult to enjoy a picnic outdoor, but we are in their home! Otherwise, the cafe at pier is fab.. walk around the loch to the 'Larder'.. great offerings here. An all round fun, relaxing stunning haven for wildlife. Remember we are in...
